GWRS - We keep our living room at 18C - bedrooms cooler - and use socks, fleeces, rugs and dogs as necessary if we need extra heat on the hitherto few occasions we're in to sit on a sofa and watch TV. Won't be out at dancing 5 nights a week when we move - just the one class planned - and we will have a wood burner so we may review that policy.
Good advice about the bank manager.
Clari - you need some house rules eg - no car or part thereof in the house, ever. That's what the man shed is for. Two hours of time in the man shed get you two hours in the house and then the garden till you have a decent living space. Living with never ending renovations is very wearing on your mental and physical health and probably your relationship.
One kilo has been simmered in red wine with lemon and rosemary - now they are being strained in a jelly bag and tomorrow they will be transmogrified into Grape & Rosemary Jelly, and the other kilo will be crushed ready to be turned into Grape & Balsamic Jelly.
I need to buy more preserving sugar and jars ... I'm running out of saved small ones.
As you say Obelixx, living with never ending renovations is very wearing (I used to be married to a builder). Clari has enough 'stuff' impacting on her life, without renovations and car parts in every room. I do think a bit of consideration is called for .........However, I am aware of people who think it perfectly reasonable to put car parts through the dish washer

Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
Ob: That's all well and good having two hours in the house but he expects that while he's in the man shed "working" I should be cleaning the house and doing chores. Ironing is therapeutic and all that but since I have cut my ironing down to just his shirts (and the bed sheets if I'm feeling in need of a little luxury) its hardly the most enjoyable way to spend the evening!
As for work: you'd be amazed when reading the welfare at work act that the this place hasn't been shut down but somehow he gets away with it.
Hi everyone. Have just read all your posts and now my mind is one big blank. I really need to get to sleep. Son arriving early. Well, it's not really tomorrow now since it's 12.34am, so today. Hubby is still glued to thevTV for yet another cooking contest. Not Master Chef this time for a change.
That's good but frustrating. Maybe some yoga or pilates would help strengthen her back if she's going to be gardening long term.
All that jelly sounds good. We have a rather large and unruly grapevine in the new garden - OH's baby to bring under control - but guess who'll get to deal with the fruits. maight ask for some recipes next year.
I have cleared 2 large wardrobes. Contents all boxed up and labelled or chucked or Oxfamed. One more to do but not much in it. Piles of fabric are staring at me but chappy says he'l find some 80cm boxes for those so nothing doing till Monday. Garden shed then.
Pat - have a good sleep and enjoy son's visit. I'd hide the cat and keep it. Loads of kittens on offer to free homes on a local website at the mo - can't understand why people don't neuter them. Can't have one while we still have Pusscat. She doesn't like cats and gives the dogs filthy looks and a wide berth.
Vendée - 20kms from Atlantic coast.

Thanks for advice re bank. He is such a nice man and has given me some samples of what my business plan needs to look like (includes pics) and given me advice as to where to access recognised statistics regarding tourist visitor numbers and local population, I have to do a survey too locally as to how many times people would visit a cafe and how long they would stay and how much they would spend etc. Luckily I have a friend who is a statistician and I'm going to get her advice about how best to get that written up. Also been given details of where I can apply for a start up grant and such like. A lot of work ahead, I'm happy to do it but next place of call is the marie's office to see how he feels about a change of use

Oops, order for the premises. Would he like a new business in his town that brings in visitors and adds to the experience of visiting it, and offers employment to some people? Sounds easy but I have to pitch it just right, there are other French cafes that might not like the idea. I need to prove I suppose I won't be treading on anyone's toes.?

As for the boss and working conditions - there are legal rules for that. See here for dimensions and space rules - http://www.healthyworkinglives.com/advice/Legislation-and-policy/employee-issues/welfare-workplace#legal Point boss gently in the right direction then gang up if needs be.
More coffee has been drunk. Not really kicking in yet..
Today I have been mainly crushing grapes
