Morning all. Nipped online to check my emails for work in case we're on day five of no internet there. Surprisingly quiet inbox this morning!
As for the muppets that think they can try and interrupt my day... I've started answering my phone when an unknown numbers comes up with as "EMERGENCY SERVICES *whisper* museum your details are being recorded how may I assist?" 96% hang up there and then. Any that want to talk about accidents are informed: "love I deal with hundreds of accidents* a day: you're going to be more specific"
(This is of course entirely true: how many of those school children visiting the museum are "accidents"? )
Car insurance: "what is your cover like for fire engines?"
For anyone else I usually inform them that I have their details and they are being transferred to the Police Call Centre. The line has never yet not gone clear!
If it is someone I know than I just laugh and tell them I'm in work mode (not that most people I know call me: it seems text is the preferred method of communication).
What always amazes me though is despite people who you think are quite clever, who read all about these scams in their newspapers, who are warned repeatedly by family not to respond to the "you have won" letters or answer questions on the telephone... still fall for it. SEVERAL TIMES. His lordships grandparents are prime examples. I like to think of it as too trusting. But really its scary.
Almost the weekend for all the work a week folks! I'm alas at work again on Saturday with some St John Ambulance youth groups which'll be fun! Then its all hell break to get the house ready for the builders.
If you don't hear from me next week: assume the building work is going badly wrong.
Joyce - I would have chopped a bit of Cream Delight out of mine for you if you'd said. It's a lovely plant - the habit is really nice. I got it as a gift from my sister. A friend of her's had a surplus ( I won't tell you how ) gave her a few things, and she gave me the phormium because she doesn't like them. She now wants to get that one too, after seeing mine!
The rain has gone off at last here - for now. Haven't seen my front window spider though...
Weather supposed to improve for the weekend, although hill fog is forecast so I may have to amend my proposed walk. It'll be good to see some sun.
Better go and get ready for the salt mines - have a good day everyone.
Remember - if the scammers call, tell them to *$#* off
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
Morning all. Tigger dog was weak yesterday and hardly ate anything, slept most of the day. Nearly 14. Vet coming to assess him this afternoon.
We are going to yet another funeral today, a sweet old lady who used to go to our church. I expect her husband will have to go into a home now. She was his carer. He refused to go back to England as their sons wanted.
Oh dear what a gloomy post!
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
I've won 2 million Euros , according to an email I received the other day. I've gladly sent all my details off to them and am now awaiting the money being transferred into my bank account.
You won't be laughing then , will you?
Re , the crash calls. My stock reply is " give me the exact date, time and location of this crash" , works a treat. Or , I do as Pat does, " oh can you hold on until I go get a pen?" and just leave them hanging.
More Hosta moving to-day without my glamourous assistant ,as he's going to the shopl
Pat, I've asked him for the botanical name of his 'Lilac Indulgence' or whatever he says it's called
Hosta ((hugs)) remember who your friends are when you come into your well-deserved wealth won't you?
I've never had an email telling me I've won a fortune
Last time I had a phone call about my car accident I asked for all their details 'cos obviously someone had stolen my car and I'd have to contact the police and the chap on the phone would be called to give evidence ...... long silence then the line went dead

Pat, I've told Joseph that it's not Calluna vulgaris and suggested that he looks at your suggestion.

Lovely pics Pat, on other thread.
Fairy, I didn't spend all my £100 winnings on bulbs so decided to treat myself to a few plants.
Thanks for the thought
Dry and bright just now and a good weekend forecast

Dove, yes I noticed. I don't think he understands about botanical names. Never mind, if he can find a cultivar in the shop, that's ok.
hosta, I'm very glad to know someone so RICH! What will you do? Travel the world? Or maybe increase your collection of hostas?
