Leaves are natures bounty, they make wonderful seed compost we have a long lane of all types of trees though a lot are Oak, a small wood near by provided more and I would gather bags full of them much to the surprise of Neighbours, (why are you doing that? the Council will do it) they had lawns decks and in mode gardens, I had a working garden apart from a very big frontage which was in line with all the others, neat tidy boring.
The gathered leaves went into black sacks hidden behind bushes after being well pricked with a fork and left for a year. They would be brought out riddled and then into a sack for mixing potting compost, lovely fresh clean stuff to work with, any debris or uncooked leaves went on the compost heap nothing wasted. At the same time several acorns would be gathered and put in pots, a few years on young Oaks would be secretly planted in a clearing in the woods, some will now be trees. My neighbours are now tearing up the in mode gardens and putting in raised beds, they are growing food so me the old man of the woods get asked what do we do now many times, it all comes round in time, I tell them start gathering all those leaves.
We have been bagging up leaves - a mix of willow, lime, oak and sycamore. I am a firm believer in enriching the soil as naturally as possible - but many gardeners don't have the time for this - when we were too busy we would buy a commercial product.
But to get back to the topic of this thread - the weather has been lovely today, not a breathe of wind and temperatures up to 18 degrees - we do need rain but this sunny, calm weather at this time of year is a real bonus isn't it?
Stockton has no sun today, the sun has gone away, skies are dull and grey, the North wind makes trees sway, blows the leaves array, makes you want to pray, for more sun today.

Living one foot in the North Sea as they say here, floors are decks, rooms cabins the kitchen is the engine room "oh" and we live on fish, our weather is different and we have to accept that fact. At the moment an icy wind is blowing into Tees Bay, we sing about it, why fight what you cannot beat.
Gannin along the Scotswood Road twas a November day; The wind was cold the clouds were low and looking very grey; All the lads and lasses there and they were heavy laden; We Gancies coats and welly boots, on the road to Blaydon.
That is the North East boys and girls, the North Sea rules the waves. Apologies to Geordie ridley.

First frost of the year, now 10d chilly but sunny lovelly on the beach - no wind
A dry day with sunshine this morning, cooler this afternoon once the clouds had blotted out the sun - still no need to wear a coat.
