Aym - this is the 5th year of the tete-a-tetes in these pots and there are two pots of Thalia. I move the pots to the back of the house when the flowers have finished and give them some fertiliser.  I still have three pots of tulips to move onto the patio.

Aym - the back of the house only gets the rising sun in the summer, rest of the time total shade. It's also protected from the worst of the wind. I usually get two years from potted tulips.

There is frequent moving of pots between there and one area of the patio.  The other patio pots have permanent planting now.

     - Aym,   if it were me, I would repot the amaryllis into MPC but not in a bigger pot.  I give a weak liquid feed every two weeks until August, then let them dry off.

Do you have any shrubs?  if so they would provide some cover for pots of bulbs over the summer and prevent them drying out. Some people lift them and dry them off once the leaves have turned brown.

Joyce, tête a tete are quiet high on my wish list. I can't wait to see your's in bloom.

Runny beak, your tree is lovely. What's your weather like?

Hey runny beak, I am sure your trees looked. Do share pics if you clicked.

Lucky you, I wish we had more foggy days this year.

Btw, I was wondering about the temperature. I wanna know at what temperature hyacinth bulb.

    Hey Aym, good evening.

It rained on and off the entire day yesterday. But it was all sunshine, today. Guess the rain just wanted to spoil the parades.

Yesterday was just lovely. Thanks to the rain, family decided to have an impromptu get together. The whole family got together at our home after lunch and we fried pakoras for tea time with masala tea(pakoras are like the traditional snack for a rainy day) and there were a lot of chutneys left over from a south indian style Idli-sambhar lunch. Uncle brought us a tonne of fresh, crisp jalebis. We just talked and ate fought .Everyone stayed over until after dinner time. Had really fun day.

Wow! You got that cold weather??

-4 sounds brutal. I just wanted to know from someone's personal experience as to at around what temp. their hyacinths sprouts so that I can compare it to our temperature and time when is best to plant them next year.

I can't wait to see your snowdrops.

Vishu, I planted hyacinths outside in pots in November and they are at the same stage as yours.

We can also buy prepared hyacinth bulbs to flower indoors over Christmas time. They tend to have quite a strong perfume.

Aym - certainly not an expert!!!.

Are your snowdrops not in flower yet?  I've had some flowering for two weeks with more to come.
