Some lovely pics GD especially on these grey days, thank you. I finally chose Crown Princess Margarita for my new arch, she arrived safely this week, so plan to plant her today ?

morn Aym, have been at work, hope you well. Yesterday my son and I planted my laurel hedge for privacy by the roadside fence, we are pleased with our efforts ?

This is a new garden so i think maybe a couple of small ornamental trees would be nice? I'll put a thread on here and see what folk suggest ?

  • imageimageimageHi everyone ?. Cold but not icy which is a bonus today. Second pic is a wee plot we made with niece/nephew whilst they were over in summer for their "holibobs". Have to keep them updated on how it's coming along.....(changed a few things since then, so they always see something growing lol) ??

Thank you aym, actually my name starts with a D and his an E...any relevance regarding that? ....thank you for the tree ideas, i will google, hubby not letting me spend too much right now,so i have to be careful ;)

where do you live clarice? It probably says on here somewhere and i missed it?

  • Morning ladies ? Loana I am in the Dordogne France. that yellow one is a shrub called cistus Aym, its very young and hoping to find a decent place for it as I have it back in a pot right now till spring. The name plaques in plot are pallet left overs, painted then doodled with beasties etc for the kids...?. You take it easy.

  • Cytisus is the name of the yellow shrub Aym so sorry about the mispelling....(one I had written previously is a totally different plant lol)....??. Cystisus racemosus (broom plant it's also called). The flowers are perfumed and need to wear gloves whilst handling as oils can be an irratent ?. Flowers have died back for now so it will be next year for seeds or soft/hardwood cuttings. Here's a better picture of one....?. They also dont mind clay soil...(it's what we have here).

  • You did very well there with the bargains Aym ??. Won't be too long till there all filled and looking lovely....Our garden looks a right mess at the minute....4/5 times two builders bags of leaves have been taken to skip and there's still loads to be raked up..forgot how long it takes, also have a good day or so of clearing the beds as they are covered with them ? But not today as dreaded housework awaits..??.

  • Hi aYM we have clay soil here but a lot of the beds and veg plots have improved over past two/three years after being double dug and filled with manure/compost constantly and now it's not too bad ? Just certain areas that are a little difficult but not as they were. We have bags of leaves that are breaking down at the minute and we are leaving the bottom end of the garden as it is as there's thousands of leaves there but instead of the usual clearing, we are leaving them to help. Improve that part of the garden this year and see if it makes a diffference...?

  • I have a passionflower plant aym that I got last year...(may have seen in YouTube)? its came on leaps and bounds and still throwing out the odd new shoot...I have read that the fruit isn't too good on these ones and are more ornamental?. Passiflora caerulea is the one I have, maybe you have the other one? We don't have anything flowering now Aym....?

I really would love to have this type as I'm getting really into the dark colored flowers/grasses at the minute ? And think this is stunning.

Me too Aym, it  doesn't look real does it?

,in fact those purple and white middle bits look like white beads on purple thread. Actually this could be copied and made from fabric and beads !
