I am only a few years in this hobby so won't have much to show, I am afraid.
Please do share tulips, daffodils and frits pics as soon as they bloom. It gives me immense pleasure to see them and then dream of me having such blooming in my garden.
Aym: Roses are blooming. Desi roses......will share pic soon. 13°C -29°C minimum and maximum respectively. 24% humidity and wind is 3km/h. Sunny (it never rains in winters)
Please do share your mum's pics. I started keeping mums last year and I wanna see and collect as many varieties as possible. Eagerly waiting for your's pic.
Btw, got hyacinth bulbs today. Very happy.
I didn't get the last part. Do you mean funeral? Did someone pass away? If so, sorry to hear that.
Good day to you too, aym.95% of the rain we get falls in 3 months (July, August and September) so my seed heads never get wet........
Summers are intollerable. Most of may and june we have maximum temp above 45°C along with dust storms unless there are some pre monsoon rains. The temp rarely drops below 30°C.
I don't grow mums from seed..... Plants are cheap enough and growing from cuttings is easy too. Does cactus Dahlia come true from seeds? Never grown Dahlia from seed so don't know..........
Are those mum varieties you mentioned? That's one of the biggestdrawbacks of living here. Nothing is labeled. Names of varieties are never mentioned and the nursery people do not know it either.
Move everything to full shade.......put up green shade nets.........water everyday...sometimes twice a day.....that's our summer routine....... And we endure heavy losses.
Have added some hydrogel to my soil this year so let's how they do.
We have lot of horror stories but refund ones are extremely rare.
I was born in the heat so we have learned to bear the heat(just bear). April end to first week of July is pure hell. The only thing that keeps us going are 1.5- 2 month long summer Vacations and mangoes. After that we have 3 very hot, humid and sticky months.....things become pleasent in October and remain so until april (with a 15 days gap in January when it's all fog and cold and temp in single digits)
Btw, we love cloudy days.......... We love it when we have those 'gray' and sunless days.
Yes, Hong Kong is sticky and I loved it....... Spent a very delightful one month there......... many happy memories. So Aym, Hong Kong is your home town?
We have hot dry summers so I don't use air cons and disapprove of it in my climate...... I stead we use desert coolers. They consume 90% less energy and give moisture to the dry air, whereas aircons suck up moisture from the already dry air and also use HFC's and CFC's which, if leaked cause ozone hole. Desert coolers use water instead as a coolant
