I'm in the "Dyson no longer" camp. Our cottage has a 10-year-old Basil (like Henry but smaller I think) which appears to be bomb-proof. Visiting children like using it too, because of the smiley face. (Child labour is fine by me... ) And here I have a quiet, light cylinder cleaner, much better than the old Dyson for a house with 21 stairs.
Hope your day goes well, everyone!
Thinking of you today, BL xx
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
Started raining yesterday at about 6-00 , nice gentle rain , everything a bit damp , bit overcast
Dyson had one of the first ones , just found it a bit heavy , when packed up bought 2 cheap upright ones from Tesco ( made in Poland ) , one for upstairs and downstairs and they work fine
We have Virgin phone and broadband , realised last week we where paying for Virgin TV , so phoned call centre and they sent a box to install however you need bits from original box which we never had so engineer coming this afternoon , so of to allotment and leave it to O/H
Lots of plants in our local Wyevale were like that the other week Clari.
Beautiful David Austin roses - dried to a crisp with yellow leaves covered in black spot - not just one or two plants but the whole display. Reduced to £15 I think.
I might have paid £1.50 and tried to rescue a couple - but £15 - no way. And I know those DA roses were lovely healthy specimens back in April...
Not good is it?
Heaven is ... sitting in the garden with a G&T and a cat while watching the sun go down
Do you use McLaren's Joyce? I get most of my plants there. It's 45 mins away but worth it. I know how the plants are raised and looked after. No contest really. Just saw your post from last night re Ben More. Do you mean the pix from the webcam?
Haven't read everything - no time. Sorry to hear of bad times for Dew Drops and BL. Makes me appreciate my good fortune even more.
Back to work. No rest for the wicked
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
You lucky thing Joyce. Those two... samples were marked at £2.99 each.
I've composted better examples!
I've noticed that more and more garden centres are turning to clothes / bbq equipment that is far too impractical to actually use / tat / expensive tat at that and the flowers are something on the side.
Since I was in the car I visited two other small privately owned garden centres and neither of those left me itching for my wallet. Even the reduced bins were disappointingly beyond the chance of saving anything other than the pots.
So I am home in the garden trying to think down some plants thinking how daft those going in the compost bin are in better condition than those for sale!
Back from the funeral. OH sang in the choir, a friend and a solo and another friend played the violin. Lots of people. We went back to my friend's house afterwards. Thank you all for your encouragement. Will send Topbird a PM.
This evening there is the annual social evening of the gardening club, cake and jam competition, taking chicken and mushroom tartlets to go with the wine and there will be a vote for the best vase of garden flowers.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.

Just loving the randomness of these conversations!

We'll not be getting much rhubarb crumble from them!

We are fortunate in having 3 family run nurseries within 12 miles. The plants are well cared for and often cheaper than the 'big boys'.
