Just checking in, I am alive! Been spending time sorting out and ordering a new fishtank and taking up running. I had no idea that within a few weeks of doing this Couch to 5k thing that, this morning, I would have been able to run for twenty minutes! A far cry from my first attempt when I wasn't even able to finish the series of one minute runs with ninety seconds of walking between.
I'm astounded and the people I saw on my cool down walk must have thought me an idiot as I was grinning so much.
Thank you for your kind words regarding my relative, after speaking to the hospital it seems they are going for their endoscopy later today, so no news yet. My plans to keep busy by sorting out the home office have been put to bed as I managed to pull a muscle in my back this morning....by getting jeans out of the bottom drawer in my wardrobe, of all things. Instead I decided to do something a little less strenuous so spent some time with my mum, and now I'm on the sofa resting for a bit.
Joyce, hurray for common sense! What a relief for you.
Steve, well done on managing the C25K! I gave it a go a couple of years ago, but then got told by the orthopaedic surgeon to stop...I only made it to the second week! Unfortunately (or maybe fortunately, depending on how you look at it?!) I'm forbidden from running ever again because of my hips (no labrum and a nice chunk of the femoral head gone in both), which is a bit frustrating at 32, but worth it to slow down how severe the arthritis is.
Well done Steve, quite an achievement. Are you sure you're not just doing it to get a free ride to Tokyo?. When you've got your fish tank up and running I'd like to see a pic
Dewdrops it's best to do what the Dr orders. Chronic pain is an endurance race in itself.
Been to SM and spent loads of money (again). I'll have to watch the Eat Well for Less series again. Why do they never mention things like toilet rolls, washing powders, etc that are all bought at the SM. OK I suppose you can't eat them. Very little is thrown away in this house with three hungry men plus one peckish woman.
Lesley, I know what you mean about the endurance race that is chronic pain, and the pain of the supermarket shop! Husband and I have switched from Ocado to Lidl, best thing we could have done in terms of saving money and eating healthier. We switched in April, and around £45 gets us everything we need for three meals a day for both of us for a week. Before that I reckon we were spending about £70 between Ocado, and 'top up' shops, and husband was buying lunch from Boots everyday. So, we must save about £40 a week now, which means we've almost halved our weekly spend on food. We buy a lot more fresh fruit and veg, and have been very impressed with how long it lasts- must get to store very quickly. The meat always seems to have nice long dates on it too.

The 2020 Olympics Steve. . ?
Once DD has got herself settled and a bit more time, she can give you tips on preparation. . . . .
I'm lucky that at 46, I have no actual medical issues at all to speak of. I'll be happy to manage a 5k run at the end of it!

Dewdrops - Greg Wallace would be very proud of you
. Just think how many plants your saved money could buy
Wonkey, Lesley hugs are most welcome at the moment, up and down at times. Steve well done the only running happening with me is my nose
Will catch up later
Lesley, the odd plant may have been slipped into the shopping trolley at Lidl already!
I have been impressed with Lidl secateurs.
