I finally dragged the sedge plant out of my pond as it was taking over and doing more harm than good. As I pulled it up I found a large frog hiding behind it. I haven't seen a frog in the garden in years and we never get spawn but maybe that's about to change. I hope they eat vine weevils. :)

    Lovely pic @wild edges. :)
Thanks. Someone used to live inside that bridge apparently, back in the 18th centruy. The door is tucked inside the archway. All I can tell you is that it wasn't a very fat person that lived there :#

Really interesting picture, just look at the different stones, many robbed from a much older building no doubt. If only stones could talk.

That bridge has had more repairs and rebuilds than any other building in the borough I imagine. Until a few years ago they used to let vehicles drive through there but it was constantly getting damaged so they closed it off and built a new bridge. Part of the reason for the different stones is that CADW likes to see repair work standing out as obvious repairs rather than restoration which would be made to blend in with the old fabric. It helps to tell the story of the building in a way but is often a controversial approach when people just want to see pretty buildings looking their best.

We were stopped at a traffic light in Bristol today, just below the Clifton suspension bridge, and I saw a green lizard basking on the cliff face by the side of the road. Typically the lights changed just as I'd grabbed my camera but I found this article: https://www.bristolpost.co.uk/news/bristol-news/how-exotic-looking-lizard-colony-5546149

Just seen a female Blackcap having a look at the bird feeder! One year, a pair nested in one of our hedges.
Now there are two longtailed tits enjoying the buggy bits. All go here!
