  I think they were coming through via migrations sometimes, but they might be breeding here now - Winterwatch suggests.

  Saw one in North Staffs a few years ago. Missed one in Cheshire last week - it dropped in for just one day.

  The blue tits seem to be eating from the mahonia flowers as well now. I wonder if it's common for them or if they've learned it from the sparrows? I still haven't managed to get a good photo but I'm cleaning the windows today ready for the garden birdwatch this weekend so that might help.

  @wild edges It's a good thing there is a yearly garden birdwatch organized... otherwise your windows would get more and more opaque.
