and that's why I gave up using fat balls. I tried a feeder with cage surround but jackdaws will get into anything. They're great birds though if you can ignore the antisocial habits.
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.
I'm on 118 so far. Coming thick & fast suddenly. In just over a week I've added Ring Ouzel, Wheatear, Redstart, Pied Flycatcher, Willow Warbler, Blackcap, Yellowhammer, Linnet, Swallow, Sand Martin, House Martin, Little Ringed Plover & Grey Partridge.
The migrants have been slow to arrive here. There's a few Wheatears and the odd Swallow but that storm and the snow have put them off a bit I think. I have high hopes for next week and the Cuckoos should be back any day now.
I finally managed to tick off Pied Flycatcher today. We spent a couple of hours around RSPB Nagshead in the Forest of Dean and hardly saw any birds at all then just as we got back to the car it started raining. I took a short walk while my wife was sorting out the kids and one flew into the shelter of a tree right in front of me. By that point it was lashing down so much I couldn't use my camera or binoculars so I was lucky it was so close.

The dunnocks are back, and getting braver! I think they were last year's chicks, because they were fluffier and lighter then. Only one used to visit regularly, and he'd stay under cover in the borders. Now they're both using the feed dishes, and venturing onto the open on the lawn. 😃 My phone camera's rubbish past 2ft, but you can just see one.
The little butterfly from last month didn't make it, but I had a look at it, and it definitely wasn't a brimstone. However, I think it was, or should have been, one of these :
Possibly a green veined white from what I can make out from images on various sites. There's been one or two visiting recently on the sunnier days. Lovely- whatever it is
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

I used to whistle my horses and they'd come running.
