Nothing nearly so exotic as a Golden Eagle or red squirrel so I'm bringing you all down to earth with this:

It is not a smear of bird poo or a slimy dead leaf but no idea what it is.  I was just about to pull up the plant it is living on (don't know what that is either, but it doesn't belong on the veg patch) but decided to leave it.  And because I had weeded all around it, it was more exposed (Mr. & Mrs. Blackbird about!), I propped up a dead kale stalk in front of it.

    "Daily Wildlife Movement"?
  • I think it's a dead caterpillar now infected by a fungus.  If so, it was possibly late entering metamorphosis, and got caught by the frosts?
A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.

Ah, perhaps it is dead.  It's definitely not any kind of poo.  I'll look again tomorrow.

17 slugs having a party on my front step tonight. All seemingly the same type. It's -2oC outside; the pond is frozen. I have noticed no drop off in slug numbers. It's often said they go and hide over winter, but I'm not seeing that.

I can't get a photo of my Robin, as he's busy eating out of my hand! 😆
One day I may manage it, but it's not likely as the other hand has a bad shake.
