Yup Fidget, huge crop here this year, the reds will be ready in a few days time but I never have a problem using them

did we not have a thread last year about what we are making with our harvest? Shall we reinstate? It's always great to get new ideas

Hi everyone, Blackcurrent vodka and Kir Royale sound just the job.  I'm going to need something after my day in the garden.

Have dug in a load of soil improver where the conifers were removed and relocated two trees into the space that were'nt doing too well where they were.  Liquid Amber 'Slender Silhouette' and Prunus 'Amanogawa' hopefully will we OK even though it's not a good time to be moving them.

Managed to get to Ashwoods when the rain stopped and bought a new Echinacea and Lobelia, can't remember the varieties at the moment.  Had to move some Campanulas and Delphiniums too.  Should look OK when they have all settled in and still have lots of room for more plants. image

    evening all

This chat about Kir Royale, and Blackcurrant Vodka, is helping to cheer me up no end.

Managed not to go back to bed, so definite progress.

    Thanks for the good wishes.

Yvie, it will all look good when planted up and a great excuse for buying more plants image

Good news PDoc - onwards and upwards - how about a little G&T to help things along? image

Lily P - will PM you my address so you can forward a bottle to me (for quality control purposes you understand) imageimage They look lovely - I think I may do the same if you don't mind a copy cat.image

Hope Dove's day went OK - will be good to get everything sorted out.

Yvie - nice trees - they will fill that space very well.

We've had a titchy, tiny bit of rain here - not enough to obviate the need to water - but anything is better than nothing - and at least we've lost the searing heat and drying wind which always make the lack of water far worse. My new plantings may yet survive.... image

Time for a G&T - OH has made frittata & tomato salad for dinner while I was working in the garden. I love not having to cook...image

Heaven is ... sitting in the garden with a G&T and a cat while watching the sun go down

Hi Lantana, I did big trees on Monday, moaning on Tuesday, more big trees yesterday, planting up all hunched over on the ground today...serves me right if I wake up tomorrow like a pretzel! image

I love that song too. It's on my iPod and in my head it sounds great image but out loud I'm not so sure...image There're a lot of songs on my iPod like that. image Thankfully I have good headphones and can't hear myself.

    Hi all image

Spent today sorting out the back bedroom to make it fit for visitors.... we have my sister and her husband coming to stay in August for Ma & Pa's Golden Wedding Party.... found all sorts of things (I might have finally cleared some boxes from when I moved in image Found the "creative writing" I did for my English degree - proper cringeworthy stuff image I hated doing it at the time. I had forgotten that I also had to do a commentary on the pieces - that is v v embarrassing image image
