wise words fidget. Remember Mary Queen of Scots had her chopped off on the orders of her sister Queen Elizabeth, just for being the wrong sort of Christian.
Morning all, what hellish news this morning. I served in Ireland during the troubles as well as Bosnia and others and was horrified by what one person would do to another just because they were from a different religion. My thoughts today are with all those in Nice
Hosta, Dove yes indeed you are both correct, and as you say Hosta that's the reason i say my thoughts are with those who have lost family or freinds. War makes you look at life very differently.
Horrific news from Nice, one image of a body with a little teddy bear beside it tore me up. Like Bushman I served in area's where we spent more time bayonets fixed keeping opposing sides of the same religion apart, (not nice), than in a war zone. I did see men crack on occasion though I did learn patience. mad men who do those things never learn that it brings people closer together and more determined they will not win. I also served with Nato and that is one thing we must still do even after Brexit.
Have been in the garden trying to make decisions,. Feeling a bit stressed by the amount I have to do out there and the jobs I need to do inside as we have a busy few days lined up.
Then I thought about Nice - and Baghdad - and Brussels - and Paris - and all the other horrors that have happened in the last year.
Perspective - life is all about keeping things in perspective..
And IMO a good life or personis all about kindness, compassion, courtesy and tolerance.
The people who commit these atrocities show none of those qualities. If there is an after life - they must be going to hell in a handcart. I have never seen a religious text which promotes the killing of innocent, decent people and their children - I have only heard twisted minds corrupting various religious teachings for their own ends.

Bushman, not even " different" religions, Protestants and Catholics both claim to be Christian, Sunni and Shia both claim to be Muslim.
When has a war / terrorist attack been carried out in the name of Atheism?
If I hear anyone say " my prayers are with them".........
Basically 'difference' ... any sort of difference seems to be enough
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
Listening to Nicole Farhi on Desert Island Discs - of course there's a large percentage of French music - very poignant this morning ...
