Morning All. Haven't been around for a wee while as i have had a septic foot Been breaking in new walking boots and developed a blister. Attended to the blister and it went septic on me. Foot swelled up, blood poisoning the whole nine yards. On the mend and back on my feet. Coffee time and a bit of a read back.
Morning all Glad you're all up and at'em now Morning Bushman ((hugs)) for the poorly foot.
Fairy , I***ing done - until the next line full is dry (and I'll only do my linen shirt from that lot, not everything) and downstairs floors have been swept and the kitchen floor washed, cucumbers potted on and the first one eaten (mini patio type - delish for breakfast ) , birds fed, frogs greeted, more washing on line ........ what else? Ah yes, cosmos deadheaded and pots all watered.
Now I'll have another coffee and get on with sewing up the latest knitting ... I'll be buying more wool when I go into the city to the dentist (hygienist). Hope Hosta's out of the dentist's chair now
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
We used Nikwax on walking boots, but proper leather ones are getting harder to find. My current pair are fabric with Gore-Tex interlining. Would have preferred leather but they cost more than I could justify spending...
Bushman, hope you're skipping about very soon.
Wow Dove - you put me to shame! Wasn't up until 8am - though OH wasn't back last night from his concert until midnight, so maybe it's not quite so bad. Got lots of fruit to pick. Anyone got any interesting raspberry recipes? We've got more than we know what to do with...
My mum decided my cheesecloth shirt was too creased and IRONED IT. I was Not Pleased. I tried to crease it up again but it was never the same again...
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
Liri, my Mum did that too. What were they thinking?.
Sorry to hear about your foot Bushman, Sounds really painful and you probably couldn't have a drink with the antibiotics.
I've had a bit of an upset stomach the last couple of days and, no, I don't think it was my cooking on Sunday. The other 6 peeps were healthy enough. I put it down to greed and the excitement of Andy winning.
Horribly early start for you Dove but think of everything you've got done.
Have a good time with daughter and gdaughter LilyP
Can't look back or I'll lose my post. Have a good day everyone
I used Nikwax on my ski gear and found it a bit sweaty betty. I used a waxy Dubbin type thing on my motor cycle boots and leathers and it was more satisfactory altogether. It does need to be redone regularly though. My poor finger is worn away!
As for smocks...I wasn't built for them. I was very definitely not built for my cheesecloth shirt but I loved it to death and wore it into holes. It didn't half scratch your sunburn though!

The front looked a bit like that!
What's wrong with the smell of dead goat FG? I loved my Afghan and it always ensured a seat on the bus...especially when it rained. I had mine when they had gone out of fashion and I was sooo cool it hurt! Warmest coat I ever had. I still miss that smell...
I sprayed it with Helena Rubenstein Apple Blossom perfume and the combination was quite quite heady!
Hi everyone. I've been lying low today - hoping I would suddenly feel wonderful instead of coughing and having a sharp headache. Someone said they were planning to watch Charlie Dimock. Did they and how was it. I suppose we'll have to wait a couple of years to see it. Yes I know it's not spelled correctly but the darned spell checker keeps changing what I type and I can't be bothered fighting it.
The weather bureau is predicting snow for Canberra tonight so we may as well. I might have a snow photo to post in the morning.
Our son drove back to Canberra today, so I'm glad he won't have to drive in that weather, but hope he, as well as our daughter and grandson, are warm enough.
Watching the semifinal of Britains got talent at the moment - I wish they would stop screaming and whistling. It's going right through my head!
B'man - hope your foot gets better soon. Most modern boots are relatively comfortable from the get go unless you have 'weird' feet. What make are they and did they fit well when you got them? Double socks is the best solution to prevent rubbing. Having had goretex and leather boots, I prefer leather because you can proof them more easily (vital with the bog trotting ) and you can use a stone to stretch out any tight bits, but you can use wax on the goretex ones too - just use a hairdryer to melt it. The whole breathability thing is a bit pointless - your feet are sweating anyway after half an hour! My goretex boots were done last year - they owed me nothing, but they were doing more harm than good as they'd opened up and no longer fitted well.
Dove - I'm weary just reading what you've done
Ppauper ...dead goat...
Did you heat the wax first...that's the key to avoiding sore fingers...
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
