That poor lady's passing has turned into a media circus, something that is in poor taste. The family should be given space and privacy to grieve...

The lasted statement on the manin custody is that he has a long history of mental illness and association with right wing groups...  Whatever the motive the outcome is the same.. I apologise for my  the lady's name was Cox and not Fox only I couldn't edit it as the edit buttin is only open for 10 mibutes...

It turned into a farce on my facebook page BLT, people screaming about it and bringing left and right wing politics and much swearing into it. I unfriended all of the participants.

There are all sorts of claims being made about motivation, what was said etc.  To the best of my knowledge nothing has been confirmed yet by the police.  Until there is a formal statement of the facts all we have is supposition, rumour and hearsay, none of which is reliable.  To try to use this poor woman's death to support either side of the referendum argument is disgusting in my mind.

Just as an example of the way stories get twisted, many years ago my brother was involved in a very serious car accident.  A story started circulating locally that the police couldn't find his car, which seem beyond stupid but didn't stop the story.  The reality was that they had found other photographic gear in the car, but couldn't find the camera - not the car.  The camera was actually at home.

The variant on the story was that his car was found 2 fields away from the road.  We never did work out how that one started.

The moral of the story - don't listen to rumour, or if you do don't put your own twist on it and then pass it on.

It's obscene that people are exploiting this tragic death for their own ends when none of them (or us) know what happened or why.  I despair.

Well, I thought the politicians  were behaving rather well and beyond the very reasoable question as to whether the man was mentally ill or a political extremist I haven't heard any speculation, exploitative or otherwise. I think we get the media we deserve and if you don't  look in the gutter press or websites, you won't find anything to disgust you.

I know we shouldn't be surprised by the actions or words of an politician, but I'm sure I remember Cameron saying words to the effect that he would support leaving the EU if he didn't get what he wanted from renegotiation.  He actually got very little, if anything, new but suddenly leaving the EU will mean the end of the world as we know it.

What has changed so fundamentally that in the space of a few months he can go from being accepting that leaving can be a good idea to a Doomsday scenario?  Why weren't all the downside risks put forward by the Remain group from Day 1?

I think that a new scare story coming out almost daily is actually likely to encourage people to vote to leave, because they will realise that much of what is being said it ridiculous.  If some of what is being said is simply unbelievable why should any of it be believed?

I know it's none of my business, but some of you might like to read this:

Not just the gutter press Posy but what do I know :(  I agree that the politicians are behaving decently but too many people aren't.

I'm sure we can sustain the foreign aid budget AND support the NHS, Doghouse Riley.  How about increasing the tax on the very rich, and closing the tax avoidance loopholes?

I agree with you about Cameron and his cronies being OK though.  Private education, private health insurance and a huge cushion of inherited wealth.

Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
