Have a great time Dove - hope the weather holds for you image???

Joyce - what's a shoogly door? Couldn't come up with a typo alternative so I'm guessing it's a regional thing? Might have to start using it when I know what it means image

Hope you manage to get in the garden at some stage DD - not much fun if it's all sopping wet thoughimage

Dry here so maybe a survey of the damage done over the last 2 days.

Morning all, from a grey and windy South Coast image

Happy Hols Dove and Happy Hosting Hosta image

Hope you make some garden progress today DD - this garden opening thing sounds too stressful for wordsimage

Was curious about the shoogly door tooimage

Taking Dad to a fracture clinic appointment over in Southampton today .....see if they can sort out his metatarsel !!

Shoogly refers to a loose nail, door etc that's shaky and liable to come off.  However you can also shoogle a baby in a pram to get it to sleep. . . meaning to rock the pram gently.

    Good morning all, hi Patimage

Safe journey and happy holiday Dove and OHimage.  Hosta give the red carpet another Hooverimage.

Chicky I hope your Dad gets on OK at the clinic and they can sort him out,  that's a typical footballer injuryimage.

Joyce I love that expressionimage.  I think she means the door is hanging on by a thread (I would have said wonky but that doesn't seem politically correctimage).  There's a saying that if someone's coat is on a shoogly hook they are in danger of getting the sack.

Hope everyone who has had the terrible weather hasn't had too much damage and that the plants pick themselves up.

I am not doing it again next year Chicky - last year we had a drought and everything was parched, this year everything is drowned and beaten down. Perhaps if I don't bother we will have some good weather. image Hope your dad gets his metatarsel 'sorted'. image

Oooh I probably have a shoogly wheel on my wheelbarrow then.image

And the strap on my favourite bag is looking a bit shoogled too (bet that's not the right way to use it)

I've probably read it before but I've forgotten - which part of the country are you from Joyce?

No doubt you will have a shoogly wheel. I'm from west Scotland but I think "shoogle" is generally used here. Bushman or LesleyK can confirm this.

Yes Joyce it seems to be fairly widespread. Funnily enough my wheelbarrow has a shoogly wheel too

West Scotland is a very special part of the world Joyce - we especially love the Highlands and the coastal stretch from Oban to Ullapool - many happy holidays over the years. We were going to come & live there when OH retired but the wee beasties drove us to absolute distraction one summer on Ardnurmurchan...

Lovely for the other 9 months thoughimage
