Morning all - up early today.  Woken by Chestikof.  Hope it all clears up soon cos it's dragging along.

It's cool and grey and cloudy again but we're supposed to stay dry all morning and get to the mid 20s this afternoon - with thunder and co.  Lovely.

I need to go out for bird food and coffee and then can garden all morning.   Sewing or potting on when the rain comes.   I have a new overlocker Wonky but after watching the Sewing Bee I shall be having lessons before I use it for anything serious and it won't be fitted lycra yoga togs.   I quite fancy yoga but hate lycra and polyester and viscose and all that sweaty cr*p.   Meanwhile it's cotton frocks for me in case summer does arrive.

    Happy birthday Pat.

    Good morning all image

Woken twice in the night by foxes fighting very close by.  OH and I shot out of bed to watch - one fox stood watching from just across the way and the others (two?) were out of sight behind the neighbour's shrubs, but going at it hell for leather - talk about noisy - yapping, screaming and barking.  Eventually all went quiet and we went back to bed, only for it to start up again just as we'd drifted off - we shot out of bed again but this time we couldn't see anything - only hear them!!!

It's a glorious morning - another gardening day???  Although I have tennis at 11am and must pop in to the SM and buy some food - not to mention tea bags for OH.

The plaster is off the cut finger so now I can type properly I'll tell you what I did yesterday.

Yesterday I planted out/potted on squashes, cucumbers, more tomatoes, courgettes, salvias, dahlias, Hosta's canna, basil, chillies, and loads of perennials that are waiting for a permanent place and needed bigger pots.  Still some more to do, but we're getting there image

I also erected a teepee and sowed some Borlotti beans as late replacements for the runner beans that rotted instead of germinating.

I summer pruned the pear and goosegogs and OH tidied up the autumn raspberries to get rid of suckers, and dug over the broad bean patch.

The thymes and oregano have been struggling in the herb patch - it doesn't really get enough sun for them, so I've bought some more including a lovely 'Archers Gold' thyme, and planted them in a large terracotta bowl full of MPC and grit - I've put it in the sunny corner so hopefully they'll be happy there.

Last autumn I was given two cuttings of a kiwi plant - one male and one female.  The problem is that only one had rooted properly - the other rotted off and died - but the friend didn't remember which was in which pot image  The other one is growing away healthily and I've potted it on - anyone any idea how long I'll have to wait until I find out whether it's a boy or a girl?

    Morning all!

Got the day off today and truth be told looking at my to do list I'm thinking it'd be easier to go to work.

Washing machine will be going flat out and I'm hoping for good drying weather while I involve all the machines (strimmer, hedge cutter, lawn mower) to tidy up the garden.

Then I've all the places I need to visit; bank, supermarket, vets, doctors (ha! like they'll have an appointment slot available)...

But first I will drink my tea and decide where we are going for a run (truth be told its more a fast paced wobble but since its too much for my normal bra to handle I like to optimistically call it a run).

Dove you've just reminded me that I need to prune the plum tree.

Morning all/ happy birthday Pat - hope you have lots of cake and a smashing day  image image

Dove - re your kiwis - you'll know when they hit puberty....image

Foxes are very noisy aren't they. When we lived round the corner there was a small bit of woodland and a grassy area in front of us and they regularly had parties....image

Forgot to congratulate Hosta on his weight loss. That's really is a brilliant effort. Must feel like a sprightly spring lamb now! image

LP - what a lovely present. I hope it turns out well  image

Clari - your post made me laugh. (The fairy family have a similar problem with 'lady bumps'image

It reminds me of the Two Ronnies joke about the bra called a sheepdog. It rounded them up and pointed them in the right direction... image

It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

Good morning all, hi Pat Hooe you're having a nice dayimage

Yes Joyce I did manage to get back to sleepimage.  I'm often up for a hot drink at some unearthly hour but keep away from the forum or I'd never go back.  I just thought I'd get in early for Patimage.

Thank for the welcome back Wonkyimage.  The argufying is usually over trivia, eg 'last Wednesday....'  'No it wasn't, it was Thursday'.  'no it wasn't' ...........image.

Dove I think your guarantee of getting kiwis is to get another male and female - just to be sureimage

Good luck with all that Clariimage.

    Morning all.

Another kinda dreech day. I think I'm going to bit the bullet and start planting my new bed. It's gonna get muddy, but it's cool, the ground is moist ( and the rest ) and the plants should settle in well.

Wonky, I LOVE sewing bee. I'm not sure my 1917 Singer treadle job is up to fancy zig zigs and overlocking though. image

GWRS I would love too but I'm working all weekend and as we were away last weekend my to do list is threatening a second sheet of paper.

Also if I don't get on top of the washing soon I'm in serious danger of having to resort to going as nature intended in the pants department. (Doesn't help that the hounds washing requirements means he is on his third load in the machine).

    7 jobs down...
