Think I'm certainly coming for dinner now Obelixx! Love rhubarb too! image and that lamb sounds scrummy! Happy fathers day to OH, my father would spend his playing golf too! In fact the card I got him this year says "born to golf, forced to work!"

Tummy survived dinner last night and is just braving a cheese and onion toasty before I do further battle with secret paving slabs! Why do people do that?! Also dug up some very old looking bones image pet/ BBQ remains imageimage

Keep your germs to yourself Wonky, and I'll do the same ((hugs)).

I just finished the final potting on of the cordon tomatoes as the heavens opened here.  I've come indoors as OH doesn't think a person with Sniffles and Chestikoff should garden in the rain image

The bush tomato plants (the GW freebies) are on the table on the terrace waiting for their final pots - Wonky - I'll pot yours up for you and bring them when I deliver your pressies from Hosta - not until we're both germ-free image

tee hee Dove, I quickly read that as " pressies for Hosta". I had a wee flurry of excitement.

Seeing you both was the best pressy I've had in ages. Always lovely company, just a shame you're poorly now.

Popped home for lunch as you get guilted into a shorter break by folk saying. " it's really busy on the tills , are you going to be long?" etc.

Hubby off "up country " this morning so I'm home alone until Thursday evening.

Enjoy the rest of the weekend.

Hope to-day is going / went well DD.

just checked out tonight's telly. MOTD and top gear. Chris Evans, no thanks. Then I spotted an hour of Corry and 2 hours of Vera, that's me sorted.

It's a pretty poor do isn't it?  Don't do soaps of any sort so will probably watch recorded programmes while himself watches football on the other telly.

It's gone very dark and grey here and the wind is picking up.   Not good.

The food always sounds wonderful on this thread. Last night we had roasted Turkey winglets with the usual veggies and gravy. Lots of lovely turkey meat for nibbles today.

Obelixx, how about a photo of your sewing. I had a friend who used to teach patchwork and I went to her classes for a term or so. I rather enjoyed it, but then we moved to Melbourne for Hubby"s work so I got involved in other activities.

    Night everyone.

    Sleep well, Pat.

    Afternoon everyone else!

Steady quiet rain here too - no wind, plenty of midges.  Definitely good growing weather.  image

We've just had slow-roast lamb for our Sunday lunch so I'm feeling full and sleepy, trying to listen to the cricket...

I'm just a beginner Pat.   Joined a class 3 years ago to learn how to get triangle and square points to meet up properly after I decided to make a quilt for our bed.  Daft really.  I can sew curtains, cushion covers, sofa covers, coats, jackets, dresses, blouses, shirts, trousers and evening frocks but couldn't get small bits to meet where they should.   Teacher said I wasn't allowed to do a quilt of all one block and had to learn techniques for different blocks so out came all my scraps and blocks were born.

Then she got ill after a few months and I got busy for a couple of years so, since Feb I have a new teacher who does fabric crafts and has me back on track for doing blocks.   Here are some of them - http://s211.photobucket.com/user/Obelixx_be/library/Patchwork%20class?sort=4&page=1

It's a slow process changing block every time and I decided my project may just take a lifetime to get enough blocks before I learned about batting and quilting and finishing so I've made 6 blue place mats and 2 deep red and cream cushion cover blocks.  New teacher has a project to learn a new technique every month and March was making fabric pictures - irises for me.  I was away most of April and refuse to do hand appliqué which was May's project as I find free hand sewing desperately tedious.

June is reverse appliqué which I can do with a machine.  Not finished yet.  I'm also mounting a piece of Chinese embroidery of a dragon for a wall hanging.   Pics will follow if you're interested.  It's a good hobby as I can do it at home on wet days and have something to show for my time.  I enjoy the classes too as the other ladies are good fun and some very advanced skills they're happy to share.

Any other crafty types out there?  We could start a new thread for swapping ideas.
