FYI - Aldi and Lidl staff do not water plants as the shelves the plants come in on, do not have edges/lips to retain water. If they water the plants, the water runs off the shelves onto the floor hence health and safety issues. An Aldi member of staff told me this and she thought it a shame the plants can't be watered. Dead plants aren't dumped they go back to the supplier with Aldi ... Lidl they are dumped and what a shame ... all just for a drop of water!
Forgot to add am not descriminating the German supermarket chains, the ones closer to home are no better.
The GC's in my opinion are the best places to go for plants, compost etc. better quality. Needless to say I have bought garden bits and pieces from Aldi and Lidl but I go to my local GC for plants etc apart from quality to support them and keep them in business!
The daft thing is health and safety could be easily satisfied by putting the plants into a plastic sealed trough / tray so the water doesn't fall through the shelving onto the wet floor. Staff training in using a sealed water sprayer on a trolley to mist the plants rather than drown them will get around lifting heavy watering cans or the possibility of flooding shoppers.
Since they are usually stored outside (where, here certainly) floors have to be designed to safely accomedate rain and thus puddles so any over spill can be accommodated safely with a wet floor sign.
I really like those aym. About a mile away there is a large tree of it. It is so outstanding. Is it also known as a Californian Lilac? Or is that slightly different?
My sister has it growing in her garden. At the moment it's about 3ft tall by about 4 ft wide. The blossom is a gorgeous blue. She also tried to grow cuttings and failed. Great for a £1.

No bargains this week, aym. Everything I've seen has been overpriced or past saving. I will continue to keep my eyes peeled though!
