Keen and Hazel, the fire was about a mile from our place and the other side of the main road, so no danger to us, but I wouldn't have liked to be in the house on the hill - those grass fires can move very quickly.
Hazel, our weather has gone from - most days being in the mid 20s to low 30s, to now being zero and even a couple of minuses this week and temps about 11. Darwin is experiencing a very unusual late wet season. I can't remember having a wet season that late in the 13 years that I lived there.
I pulled out most of the tomato plants today between wind and rain episodes as well as pulling out most of the cosmos. Everything got burned in the frost.
as its gone midnight, I'd better pack up soon. Hubby is still watching Master Chef - Marco Piere White is a guest judge this Week. I wish they would stop playing loud music through the whole program. Drives me crazy.
They are lovely aren't they Lizzie, we see a few here sometimes, even had one on the back terrace one day last summer.
A friend has delivered me 25kg of peanuts today from the UK for the birds, hoping to attract a few different ones. I watch them outside on the terrace over breakfast, it's a bit like watching a fish tank, mesmerising and relaxing, perfect way to get ready for the day, probably one of the reasons Charlie gets to school just on time each morning.
Been gardening all afternoon but not the bit I was supposed to, I suppose it all counts.
Have a good evening all.

Well done for getting a photo of it Lizzie. It's an amazing bird. Chicky thank you for backing me up about the snow bunting being perched on a toad. Unless you're having some kind of breakdown too
What are we going to call you now keen?
Hosta I hope a good number of your hatchlings survive. You have so many. Wonky you managed to get a few nice plants there. Does he just leave an honesty box by them?
We have had another lovely day and I've spent most of the afternoon weeding on my hands and knees and can hardly move now. It was worth it though.

Canada goose poo made me dry boke on a bus. I was even in Canada at the time! Just sayin.
I blame the lazy geese taking the bus.
