Hi there Dove and Pat , hope all is well with you both.
Lovely sunshine at the moment with a light dusting of frost.
Hope all my seedlings are OK, they are in lidded trays with a layer of fleece over them and are in a bubble wrap enclosure within the greenhouse, so fingers crossed they are OK.
I'm giving a talk about making an English garden in France in May to a gardening club. I had a horrid dream that I'd brought the photos for the power point but I'd left all my notes at home.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
That sounds like the A-level dream Busy. The one where you get to school and realise it's chemistry (whatever) A- level day and you've done absolutely no revision whatsoever.
Still have that dream regularly when I'm a little stressed - 40 years after leaving school
Morning all. Chilly but bright & sunny. Down to 0.8C in the shed - glad I remembered to bring the most tender seedlings in last night
Heaven is ... sitting in the garden with a G&T and a cat while watching the sun go down
It's really beautiful here with all-over blue sky at the moment, but there's been a sharp frost. The daffs are hanging their heads trying to keep warm... and there's still a dusting of snow around, but maybe by late morning when I get back from church it'll be gardening weather. Here's hoping!
Dreams are strange things, Lizzie. I guess there's now absolutely no possibility you'll forget your notes for the talk... Is there a lot of interest among the French in making an English-style garden? I'm intrigued by the difference in garden styles in different countries. In Galway, western Ireland, where my daughter lives, most of the gardens are just grass, maybe with a line of conifers to break the wind. The choice of plants in nurseries etc seems quite limited too, so I might be bringing things across on the ferry... I've checked and it's legal, luckily!
Hope you all have a lovely day.
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
Sharp frost here - enough to ice over the bird bath. It will have ruined our magnolias, but we had a lovely show for a fortnight, so can't complain. My seedlings are also lidded and fleeced in the GH, haven't checked on them yet so fingers crossed.
Driving Chicklet back to Nottingham today, staying overnight and then back tomorrow via Waterperry Garden to break the journey a bit. Checked with cardiologist that it was ok to leave Mr C, and he laughed .....he said they would be discharging him happily if he lived alone, so I should go for it.
Still get the exam dream here too.....and the one where the taxi for the airport is at the door and I haven't started packing. Mr C thinks that if that is the best nightmare I can dream up, then I must have led a sheltered life
Morning all, hope you are all well . Very cold here with frost but brilliant sunshine not a cloud in sight , next week is meant to warm up to about 14c in the NW, wish I was off work .

Most of the people in the gardening club are English, it's on the border Charente/Dordogne, lots of English living there.
