Verdun, your talents are wasted - the weather has brightened up 100% here just as you predicted - so out I go with secateurs and bucket cutting off the damaged flowers, the petunias have suffered the most, the tagetes look as fresh as a ....... totally unaffected by the recent wind and rain. Must grow more of those next year.
I feel for you aym with all your lovely plants and flowers - I'm not sure which was worse, the rain or the wind. The rain started as fine drizzle which is o.k. but doesn't fill water butts does it and then the incessant wind which dislodged some of my taller Rudbeckias, I have had to cut a few back today. Thanks Verdun, yes those tagetes are brilliant, I collected the seeds from my daughter's garden last year and was pleased with the germination rate and delighted with the resulting flowers.
Noticed crispy leaves on the pavement the other day. How depressing. It'll be michaelmas daisies next. Oh how I hate them! It means it's all over. Chrysanthemums in the garden centre are another depressing sign
But bulbs in the GC in the winter mean hope for the future.
A definite Autumn-like feel today - very windy and apples falling off my old apple tree! If my sunflowers make it through the night I will be delighted...if not I will have a lovely vase of them tomorrow!
