Was very dull and chilly here in Bristol yesterday but today summer arrived! I actually put a summer skirt on this afternoon when I went to visit my Mum in hospital. She was astounded!

Will we all be complaining that "It's too hot for me" and moaning about having to do so much watering in a few days?

Has got hot in Dordogne, 32° today, 36° forecast for tomorrow and 39° the day after. I am dreading it. I like 22°. Garden is already telling me it's not happy.

Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.

I would wilt in 39 degrees too!

Makes the U.K.'s 29 forecast look a bit lame.

Up v early to coddle cucumbers, talk to tomatoes, bruise basil (love that smell) and soak the greenhouse in a vain attempt to cool it down.

Bird food sorted, birdbaths sorted (and now in constant use), baskets soaked, beans and peas soaked and then I ran for cover as the temperature is tooooo high! Cold shower, loose clothes and a healthy dose of heat rash. Thats it for today, settee for me with a dish of ice under the fan!
