went up yesterday for nearly 3 hours, kids were great, all 4 of us got stuck in chopping down the weeds, it's been too wet since we've had it to use weedkiller so we've just been chopping sown, mainly so kids can get in ( lots of nettles and brambles) and so we can see what we've got, discovered a path and loads of currants hiding behind a mass of nettles, we just left all we'd cut down covered in black plastic, next plan is to clear 2 small areas as we were given 2 giant pumpkins ny the allotment society for the kids to grow, and I'd like to sneak some flowers in a small bank that just had loads of rosebay willow herb, wonder if it's too late to graba few sweet peas from gc just so I get some extra cut flowers, ,ine at home doing ok but quite a few eaten by snails grrr

I grow them from seed each year but last year they all got eaten, much better this year but the last 2 weeks wet and cloudy weather has released hundreds of snails ( caught on e red handed yesterday with it's mouth on my sweet pea stem!!! he has gone on a long holiday in the green bin) need to water nematodes on this week, at least can get rid  of slugs, wish they worked on snails... I don't know if I'll be bit late to get any now, I gave my last 5 away to a friend as had nowhere to put them at home, never thought of allotment

Over the last few days at allotment been digging, clearing lots of weeds, got a large enough area so started planting got in a wigwam for french and runner beans, sweetcorn, cauliflower, one cucumber, celery, chick peas, using the space in the crate with horse manure in planted two patty pan squashes also some flowers marigolds and coreopsis

Thanks GWRS will tie up the chick peas in garden

Found a way of using pea sticks for the chick peas to support the plants either side of plants

Got some free plants from homebase as they are not so good were reduced onces by the look of them they were by the tills - so will try and see how many plants I can get out of them

Had a nice day at Chatsworth Flower show on Sunday. Forecast rain at 4pm so we looked round the house and as we left the rain had stopped.

Would recommend a visit, there wasn't enough time to see everything. I left my phone, they were ever so good and posted it same day?

Hello been to plot today early as not going to be there for a week hope all plants surive, so super hot already have also watered turf in garden it is starting to go brown hope it will go green and root if I keep on top of watering it twice a day or more

Yesterday had a good trip to the New Forest to look around Woodgreen so many donkeys were out and about walking around got to rub one of them so soft, also horses about

managed to look around 12 open gardens out of 18 some very good ones and every one with ice cream/ lollies we had to buy one

One garden had a pond in massive it was done in April this year and loads of wildlife buzzing around

GWRS I went had a look at the ginger poked around it has started rooting then the ginger burst I covered it back up

I have entered my plot into the allotment sites best allotment comp - not to win don't think my plot is that brilliant just to see how many points they would give my plot and to see if I can improve it for next year

Gf. What an incentive for plot holders having a 'best allotment comp'.

I've received the forms for Great Eccleston show, didn't enter last year but have some stuff which may be ready for mid July. Closing date for veg/fruit entries is 1st July..,?...watch this space....
