think I'll be fighting weeds this year , last year we made the mistake of 'clearing ' a bed, planting it up with strawberries and a coouple of hardy geraniums, then we went away for 2 weeks and the bed was totally overtaken by weeds again, had to dig it all up and disentangle the strawbs.. will be less likely to rush into planting anything til the plot is a bit more clear, at least we'll get fruit, want to see exactly what we do get and see if any of that needs attention, I've cut out dead raspberry canes and a couple of dead bits off end of some branches, still don't know for sure what trees there are, I'm told apples pears and plums but no idea what varieties or which is which!
has anyone heard of a book ( I think by John Harrison) how to keep kids occupied at the allotment, I saw a passing reference somewhere but a google search hasn' t found anythin, I want a few ideas for 3 and 6 year olds
Rosemummy can not help re the book - amazon, sounds as though you have hidden treasure on your plot nicer to have a little extra bit of space if you have the bigger bit of plot
Went to the plot today very windy few people have got stuff all over the place, next door has a gazebo over, not too bad on my plot- poppy gone over
Has anyone entered their plot into a best allotment competition kinda thing? if so any photos of plot
Scroggin is that in the garden or on your plot? I need to use them again in garden
Planted some bits finally in my new raised beds sweetcorn - that I went and brought as no luck with mine sown, (my) tomatoes and then planted some (my) french beans
Garden show on Friday going to Chichester (Stansted garden show) - hope to get some plant goodies
GWRS my chick peas not wanting to cling onto net, do they do that at all or do I need to tie them on?
Got so many goodies at the garden show, a plant stand for my easy fill basket, lots of plants for all over garden nice purple salvia, lots of basket plants all for well cheap, a strawberry mint to go with the other one and lots more bits, weather was a bit windy managed to keep my hat on most times, lot to get around the show most of it got done
Watched - while having lunch the birds of prey flying around one went made flying all over was enjoying the wind and flying went right near me at one point they had a tag on it and it went up to 70mph
Got to meet Nick Bailey one that is sometimes on GW tv, he did a talk about a garden he did in Chelsea last year and will be doing another garden in 2019, he said the soil at Chelsea is rubbish when it rains it is watered logged or if not dry and like dust - no bugs not in good condition, I got a signed book from Nick looks a good book, I did ask him about the pond he did on GW I liked that, it was for a private garden - he did say the washing up bowl does well for a pond
Zoomer44 hope the internet stays going for you
Scroggin that is good just keep it all watered in for then to do there thing
Little up allotment today evening sun nice bit of digging and putting up bean canes

The strong winds this week blew over my onions, shallots and garlic look ok though.
Planted out sweet corn last weekend which has taken a bit of a battering. Minipop going out this weekend.
Got loads of gooseberries in back garden but those on the plot are a little late.
I've been having problems getting on line, hopefully got it sorted out now.
