Thanks, GWRS, yes, I am growing green manures. Last year I cleared the beds too late but now I've sown mustard and will follow it with grazing rye over winter (just as well I don't really like any winter veg, so won't be growing any). The soil is so poor at the moment that even the mustard is stunted! I'll also be putting manure on if I can get it delivered.

Jury is still out for me with green manure. We get delivery's of muck 2 or 3 times each yr and at present there's a heap just outside my plot...

I'm more of a lazy allotmenteer though and it was alot easier this yr digging over beds which had been covered with muck and plastic in the autumn.

A parcel from the Garden Superstore arrived today and a new edging spade. It"s ever so light.

I only managed to get to the plot very late yesterday, so I was watering by moonlight (fortunately the hose is light yellow, so it was easy to see). Such a beautiful moonrise, too.

Hello Philippa smith2 I had nothing on my plot except weeds and rubbish when I took it on and plants would be a bonus - take what you want and I sure who ever gets the plot would love it or if not give it to someone else on site -  shame to give up your plot, I know one can get a bit neglected

Yesterday I got 2 crates from someone down the road just fitted one in the car at a time took to plot did a small bit of grass trimming and weed matting down crates on top, I have put a one tonne bag into each crate and will fill with horse manure - we have been contacted by the manure lady to go and pick up more as the bays are getting very full it is well rotted - we will go on Sunday

Been to the garden centre(wyevale) to use vouchers got purple sprouting broccoli, cola plant, peas - meteor which you sow in oct which are hardy

I have to wait till after the rainy days to carry on with shed

GWRS glad you made your gate bet it looks good

Zoomer44 delivery of muck - does that mean your site gets the muck or you ordered it?

A cola plant? Cool! Will you grow it in a greenhouse?
