My OH got fed up with our strimmer one day, said if the cord broke once more he would smash it up, I told him to go right ahead if it made him feel better, and he did!  I treated myself to a 9v battery chargable hand held, shears/hedge cutter, and great they are too. Dont know how to add pictures have to wait till one of the kids comes up.  Went to a vineyard today, (does that count as gardening, and the "tasting" as part of my 5 a day!  Was having a great time till other half came to collect me, and while he was relaxing in the car reading the paper, in a car park with enough space for 3 cars inbetween him and the next car, a ---------taxi reversed into the side of his car, which is only 2 years old.  The bloke didnt see him,was going to leg it, Hubby got out of the car, went over to him, luckily we have a camera in the car, so everything is on there, but its still aggrevation with the insurance company, and even if its not your fault they mark down you have been involved in an accident.   So that ruined the day.  Got home did some deadheading, weeding, and re-potting, plus potting up some modules of winter salad.

Aw Nanny. Don't you just hate when something like that happens. You're going along having a lovely time and along comes a twonk! Lucky you had a camera!  As you say though it's the inconvenience of the whole thing. image

Well I'm paying for my jollys now. I'm stiff as a poker. I too gave up in disgust with my toy strimmer. I never used it and then when I moved to this house I dug it out and decided to give it one last go. It broke in two and one bit shot up the garden. I was left with a stick with a dangly bit on the end! image

I went to see lawnmower guy and bought a big monster petrol one with fat string! Oh yes!!! It's actually quite light as petrol ones go because otherwise it would be swinging me around. image I LOVE IT! The place looks lived in again...now what to do with these rushes...oh yes I have a brush cutter. image

I took 7 cuttings from my one penstemmon plant and harvested seeds from primula Apple Blossom.

  • Ooooh, I also did penstemon cuttings today, couldn't remember when was the right time, but I'll assume it is now!image

Also tried some cuttings off my purple gooseneck, the birds dug up the last few. Not so sure they'll take as I couldn't get a decent bit. Also took cuttings of my hydrangea petiolaris, didn't look up how to do that either, took a green, brown and a half/halfimage

Resowed some speedwell seeds as the birds tipped that over too, they also wrecked my primula seedlings so I only have the vialii left?

Garden has disappointed me this year, there's lots still to flower but even though everything was in a perfect place last year, somehow now everything needs moving?

Been good though, haven't bought a plant in months, just made a few nice listsimage

Hello all , last year bought a battery Bosch strimmer which has a blade , works a treat but probably not for heavy use

Question for you all , plastic or wooden plant labels , I use a marker pen but rain always seems to wash name off , any ideas would be gratefully received !

Laid top soil, planted turnips, spinach lambs lettuce, modules of winter salads.   FINNALY, getting my wild flower turf today, so got to remove some grass turf, before I get berrated for doing this last minute, we are on clay, I ordered the turf, 5 weeks ago, was told delivery 3-5 DAYS, started digging up the grass, turf never arrived, and the ground is like brick.  Rang several times, kept being told when it would arrive, (it didnt) at least if I leave on the old turf it stays a bit more moist underneath.  I see Monty is away in the Mail TV guide and mag, and Constance says sow your annual now, including sweet peas, so I have sown, them plus dark purple nigella,2 lots of poppies I sow in Sarah Ravens garden, half just in case it doesnt work out!
