  • No, 9 hours rain so far image  I've got some kind of throat infection too, so I've mostly spent the day dreaming about what I want to plant up in a new flower bed.

Got out after tea and cut the grass  can't really call it a lawn unless daises and buttercups count as lawnimage also managed a little weeding before the rain started, why do weeds grow at twice the speed of other plants?

I'm on a meter Joyce and water nearly every night. It doesn't seem to make much difference to out bill to be honest. It was more expensive before we were on a meter.

Done a wee bit of weeding, thining out of nice weeds and ripped out loads of forget me nots to see what space is left.

Planted out some bits and bobs, penstemon I grew from seed about 90 years ago, red valerian, bladder campion (from seed swap) and the last of the cosmos and scabs.

Planted up the hanging baskets with some tiddly nemesia. Still got a fair bit of bedding left over, lobelia, marigolds and stuff.

Watching the rain now with the heating on and wrapped in a blankie??

I ran out between rain showers to earth up the potato bags, pot a house plant and sow some cucamelon seeds. I then realised I was locked out so pulled up some weeds while waiting to be rescued.  image

Rain is forecast for the next week so the allotment patch that needs digging over for the sweetcorn will just have to wait. image

Planted out 15 lettuce, potted on 6 aubergines into their final pots, planted out more larkspur, pricked out lots of different kind of basil, planted a couple of echinops, potted on a dozen dahlia seedlings, potted on 3 young blueberries, potted up a couple of dozen plugs that arrived and which I'd completely forgotten about!  Did lots of weeding. image

A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.
