I think people like to be asked keenbutgreen but I know what you mean.

I reckon with some fancy footwork I could get by in the hardy perennial dept but would struggle elsewhere.image

  • Yep, I'm with you there - hardy all the way for me! I'm not to be trusted with anything else...
  • I bought them from your recommendation, Verdun image they seem to be settling in well so far!

Just ordered my nematodes this morning after reading threads here, so will be onto that early next week when they arrive.

Been grim today, rained apart from a few hours early pm when I took myself off for a walk.

Did some impromptu outdoor tidying which came about as I didn't have enough labels for my dahlias. One thing led to another and I got the pot mountain stacked and the purchased plant labels picked up and bucketed (It's like having a file). Only got 5 dahlias potted up so far though.

Forced myself out to rip out a rather magnificent clump of linaria.image I like the stuff but it was sweating all over a clematis and an aster.

Put up a new bird feeder pole, need a feeder to hang off it though. And that was about the size of today...

Decided I'd had enough of being patient with my astrantia seed trays.

They've been out there for 18 months, been upended in the greenhouse by storms and strewn all over the garden.

    Yet... Things have emerged...

At least 5 different species of seedlings, the compost must be completed exhausted after months of sitting in the rain, so I pricked them out,

Have no idea what's in there.

Look like tiny astrantia leafs but... Shrug.

Pretty good day here, following yesterday's sleet and hail!  Planted a row of maincrop spuds, sowed two dozen squash in pots, potted on the same number tomatoes, sowed dahlia, night scented stock and lettuces.  Sowed 30 runners and 15 climbing beans in pots. image  Also some weeding and pulling-up of self-sown forget-me-not which I let grow as ground cover until it gets a bit rampant and starts swamping things.

A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.

Sowed 80 seeds of sweetcorn swift, and 40 each of  cobra french bean, white lady runner bean, and borlotti beans which are this years experiment. They are all in the conservatory away from the mice.
