Chopped down a lot of 'seedy stuff' I left for the birds over winter - verbena boniarensis, buddleja etc and did some general tidying-up of other dead stems etc. That lot topped-up a huge pile I have ready for the shredder which is tomorrow's job!
A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.
Cut the grass, the grass blades were dry, still a bit wet underfoot, but rain forecast next week, so thought I would bite the bullet... Had a good sweep, tidy... Looks so much better. Mower needed a good clean after, but glad I got it done.
That's when I feel spring has sprung Verd - but it'll be a while before I can do mine.
Ground's too hard to do much today - but perhaps as the sun comes through enough, I'll get a few things done. I have some tidying, bonemeal sprinkling and mulching to do in a few places.
I live in hope
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
Iam thinking about cutting back clematis, they have buds,on,they are summer ones,i think, iam not sure of their names, yet,i put in new last summer, but my sweet little grandaughter, took all the name tags off them, thought she was helping me. should i cut back, and how much, some are really high, over my arch.also hubby painting potting shed, again, not to happy about doing it.lol.might cut grass, later.
I could drive my car on the borders right now they're so solid!
If you're sure they're all summer flowering Caroline, they can be pruned around now back to strong pairs of buds. It helps to keep a written record of plants if you have a lot of the same type. Saves the problem of trying to remember...

I dream of being able to cut the grass.
If you love Niobe, try C. Rebecca, the colour stunning. Viticella Black Prince is another fave of mine.
