did some weeding when got home from work, ordered some more plants named variety plants are cost me an arm and leg, once I know I want a certain plant thats it I have to have it
plants are due for delivery friday, was hoping to do a lot of planting this week but it appears our summer already past lovely sunny warm last week, tonight couple inch of snow and more due. Just been GH to rescue cannas door already frozen shut.
I'm about to mow the lawn while the sun shines. I've lost a cosmos in the greenhouse due to the cold weather and a couple of tomato plants have got a bit of frost damage (just on the leaves though so I think they'll survive). Had to stake a couple of pepper plants this morning and I've got 30 sunflower seedlings popping their heads out of the soil on my living room windowsill
Took a days holiday today to get out into the garden. With the cold and rain I didn't get done half of what I had wanted - only planted out three roses; zephirine drouhin, Claire Austin and snow goose.
Picked up a pot from local garden centre and potted a choisya white dazzler, also potted three sunflower seedlings.
Pricked out second batch of cosmos, sowed some lagurus ovatus in pots to fill gaps later in the year, attached vine eyes to the fence in preparation for roses and waited around for delivery from crocus that had said 'shipped' for two days but hasn't arrived. Shame, was looking forward to another box to open
Planted more errant bulbs, sharpened lawn mower blade (the one that nearly had my finger last year!), cut down laurel ( I hate laurel with a vengeance), mixed up some potting compost for OH to plant Zinnias in later on, removed door from dead washing machine (OH wants to use the glass bit as a bowl), cleared a couple of square metres of weed-infested and neglected border (I have also started to hate lesser celandine)...
Now to continue - more weeding and bundling up massive pile of laurel, holly, cypress and other prunings into 1m x 0.5m bundles which is all the council will collect.

My friend came to help, she did some of the long border.
Have been weeding the end bed. Here is a bit of it, the rest was too in the sun for a photo.
I expect they will b back to front, as usual.
Wow what a lovely garden Busy. Your plants are much further ahead than mine. Really like your wall.

Actually warm and sunny here this afternoon!

Sprinkled BFB around the raspberries. Mulched same with well rotted FYM. Dumped three barrows full of FYM on courgette patch.
Then it rained again, so I did a few cuttings of giant hidcote lavender, and came in.
No gardening here today, bar opening then reclosing coldframes- we have snow expected overnight.
Mind you yesterday I was digging bean trenches across the raised bed whilst the snow fell gently....... J.
