Sown courgettes & cumbers in propagator. Potted on Aubergine & peppers they are living in the conservatory. Runners, French climbing and bush beans put into pots in GH. Watered & topped up spuds in sacks currently in old GH as we are still having frosts. Thinned out Zinna, Cosmos, Marigolds( aphid protection for toms in GH) and other flowers that I can't spell image Dead head headed daffs & fed them and feed Eric' lovers in pots and raked BFB around Dicentra & Delphiniums. Pulled weeds out as I went, it has been a pleasurable dayimage

  • I've done not a lot today (I have the dreaded lurgy) but I did pop my head into the greenhouse earlier to see my dahlias have finally got tiny tiny signs of growth.

I'm new to dahlias, but I think after this next cold snap I might move them out onto the patio as it gets a lot more sun than the greenhouse does. I can always move them back in overnight if there's a frost forecast.

I need to be making room in the greenhouse for the 12 tomato plants that are on the living room windowsill so they can start to harden off a bit before half of them get moved to Dad's garden (where they will then totally surpass mine).

Hello all,  been to really good garden centre Pearsons of Collingham Lincolnshire , a proper one that just has plants ( & a small tea room ) at a very good price eg. Bought 3 climbing roses for £12 , begining  of week went to Pennalls g/c (has Resturant , cloths , shoes ect ect ) and paid £11-95 for 1

Bought sweet peas as only 1 of mine had germinated in G/H plus couple of other bits

Will definately go back there image

  • Sorry to hear about your mum, Beaus Mum, nice that you can remember her when you're in your garden

Had a bit of a walk around after getting home from work. Placed my new plants in potential spaces, need to start deadheading the early daffsimage where did April go?

    Wearside, England.

Oooh, thanks for the recommendation GWRS. I'm in Long Bennington so not too far away. I'll definately make a trip there.

The drive back from curling in Tunbridge Wells was via Storrington for a meeting. Wow - that part of the world is amazing! Some beautiful villages. Really distinct and pretty but not in a Cotswolds type way that I'm more used to. More Tudor buildings. Saw some glorious houses and gardens. I've never paid much attention to Sussex but I think I will now. Popped into a garden centre that was advertised by the road called Camillas....pricey pricey so didn't come away with any treats.

Drive back up the A1 was horrid. Fridays in the car are not good. Glad to get back to see what's changed in the greenhouse. More peas are up and erysimum paint box starting to flower. Not as big as boules mauve (spelling??) but I hope they thrive just as well.

    Tatties going in today!

Just planted up the semi shade border with 10 helleborus Niger from.jparkers.

Really nice bare roots, big and fleshy.

Really happy with them, I think they'll grow away nicely.

Made deep holes and spread the roots out .
