Ugh. Have been on at H to get a better mower, as I can't use the petrol one (I just don't have long enough arms to start the darned thing). H works away a fair bit so I hate seeing the grass get long and not being able to do anything about it.
So, he agrees to new mower I can use, but refuses to let me get a cordless one - grumble grumble. So I picked up a flymo today, very happy that I will be in control of my own grass destiny (and density).
Took me thee hours to mow the lawn. THREE. I have red sores on my hands, my feet hurt, and I haven't even done the edging. I'm sure it will be better next time now the grass is a manageable length, but, still. THREE HOURS.
(I still maintain that it would have taken half the time with a cordless one).
Weeding and making space for the cosmos and pot marigolds, they'll go in between the roses and smaller marigolds in front of the roses then cosmos at the back
I love 'Berry Smoothie', It's such a lovely colour.
Third day in a row on the allotment. My legs are complaining so much. I spent three hours there today and there's barely any difference from yesterday.
I did plant 30 potatoes though That makes up for them being a month late... (I have 20 more to go... ).
I've just been speaking to my neighbour. They've been fishing in competition all this week and so far they've been snowed on and one of them has heat stroke! Gotta love it!

Weeded today, sowed some poppy seeds, night scented stocks, popped in my last astrantia Roma.
Finally one of the dahlia tubers started shooting.... Still nothing from other 3..
Heleniums bought in 9cm pots back in Feb or Mar still only about 2 or 3 inches tall. No Chelsea chop up here... :-(
I'm even closer to the arctic circle than you Andy. Maybe we should feed them chops to bring them on a bit!
On the plus side my tulips are still going strong!
