R.e.a.l spring morning here, chirpy chappies and chapettes coming to feed, one little brown thing, bluetit sized with an impressive warble on it, if anyone can identify? image

Finally managed to rehouse my Mammoth hosta, looks great in North facing corner with clematis behind it image so pleased

tidied up my two work areas before the rain came, good news about that is I'm really struggling to find slugs or many snails  (less than 5 the other night,  less than 10 today, and next generation now) in the past week. This has never happened to me before due to my forgetfulness or lack of faith, but Flynn has his last turn in the garden now which suits my hunting times. Gearing up for round two, ding ding!imageimage

Spent the day on trains, in meetings and on my computer....whilst dreaming about gardening!  Early finish and just got in so time for a recky of the greenhouse.

Wintersong: I'd be prepared to hazard a guess that your 'little warbler' might be a cock wren - they make a real racket, often from within the shrubbery! Any idea as to size, colour, (?picture would be good). If your situation is well-wooded you might be lucky enough to have a Garden Warbler visiting you? Happy gardening anyway!!

Thanks David, I think it is a Wren. So happy image

question,  do they return to same nesting sites? I had one turn up late summer last year but no nesting

Wrens make a few nests each year, and the female picks which one she prefers. We've had a nest in a honeysuckle a few times, but eggs and chicks only twice. You'll know when you are too close to a wren's nest because there'll be a little brown bird shrieking loudly at you.

Gardening today - weeding, weeding and more weeding. Why do weeds start growing before anything else?
