Just a bit of pruning and tying in of my roses as I have a coffee date with friend this afternoon. Gorgeous sunshine, warm and everything is raring to go image

  • Just got in been out there since 7.30 this morning been a beautiful sunny day but a little cold first thing.

All the groundworks are now complete for the long borders, the guys with the diggers are amazing how they do it all by eyeimage  we put a laser level on the ground today and did some measuring to check we had 150mm and its just perfect.

There back Monday to start the work creating a zig zag path and foundations for the retaining walls so OH can get down to beach in her wheelchair at the far end of the garden.

I think I've been naughty.  I have a right mess of mixed up pots of plants not doing so well.  This includes hyacinths that have not developed at all apart from a few spindly flowers.  I think they were too compacted so I have separated them from the pot they were in and put them into something bigger with some better soil and feed.  I now have a massive pot of hyacinths which I am looking forward to seeing and smelling next spring.

I've also found rogue daffs in other pots so have reorganised them all.

I understand they may not develop this year but I'm hoping I have done right for the future.

  • Just doing the last tour of the day and we have baby's four new Echium Pininana seedlings, possibly a few Euphorbia Amiljassa but need to check for sure in the morning, but no sight of the Melianthus Major planted at the same time but early days for these, can take ages to come up image

My nana has a first leaf coming out the top of a thick ugly stem

it's a red nana so I'm especially pleased with myself for my first ever overwintering of something tropical

cannas ar also alive, and showing tiny red lumps on the surface

I like your cold frames Wintersong image and your lupins looks like you've got enough to share imageimage

I reckon Gardeners Boy got enough plants to share with all forum members image It must of cost you an arm and a leg for that many plants GBoy. Have you took pictures before you planted up? I hope you got some helpers with the heavy stuff.

Nope, nothing except put some hardening off babies outside. I've left them out so hoping no frost but they'll probably be OK now if there is.

Got a weekend of gardening lined up so hope nothing gets in my way
