We are not part of the claiming culture Dove. I will apply now, but don't hold out much hope, as KEF says.

Lyn, that's what you've all been paying your Council Tax, Income Tax and National Insurance contributions for all these years - to pay for the help when you need it.

Nothing to do with the claiming culture.  It's just as much your entitlement as your State Pension - you claim that surely?

I agree with Dove Lyn, nothing to do with the claiming culture, you're Dad is entitled to the money and quite obviously needs it.  I promise you that if you had refused to help him and social services were having to care for him, that form would have been filled in and the claim would be being paid.

    Too true dyers end.

I did actually say that to someone in the Social Services Dove, I was told no, that's not the case, all that money goes into hospitals, doctors and nurses.

The sad thing is, that if your Dad broke a leg he'd be in a hospital bed Lyn. Getting helped. Doesn't add up does it? image

They don't class heart failure as an illness, that's the root of the problem.

Lyn - anyone who knows you on these forums will be aware of the special kind of person you are. Always giving and thinking of others before yourself, you are one in a million and I call it an honour and privilege to have you as a friend.

Yet the current situation with your dear Dad is a travesty. All I can say is that I hope you receive the help you so clearly deserve, for all your sakes. Please know myself, Mrs F and Beth are thinking of you xx

Thank you Fishy, we do have that special friendship and it goes a long way.

It does work both ways though doesn't it.

Love to Mrs F and Happy Birthday to Beth on Saturday.

I will be fine, I just let of steam every so often, as you know by now image

Thank you everyone, who have listened to my rants this week.
