Lily, I do love the yellow ones and am growing them too along with 2 dark ones. I love all sunflowers so thought I'd go with 4 varieties this year. The only ones I'm not overly keen on are called 'Teddy Bear' I think and are big and fluffy looking, that's not because I dislike them as a flower but I like the shape of the traditional sunflowers
Lovely pics everyone, nice to see a bit of your garden Verdun, looks lovely. Beautiful Astilbe and Clematis, Victoria and Sharon.
I'm growing Velvet Queen too, another dark one and can't wait to see that Next year I'm going to try Italian White, it would look lovely with a dark one.
We have just come back from our 15 day holiday (went to England, West Country, parts rather similar to Dordogne where I live). Everything has grown amazingly. Unfortunately, so have the weeds. It was all beautiful for my Open Day on 7th June and now thistles are thigh high and in flower!
Anyway, the star is geranium psilostemon, which I planted last autumn, it was in flower for my Open Day and is still in flower. 2nd is Echium "Blue Bedder" that I grew from seed, beautiful and so blue, but it has flopped over onto the lawn and will all need staking, about 12 plants.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Not wanting to repeat myself OL, (but i am) but I've never really been a fan of sunflowers, but really like your one. Think I'll have to get some seeds for next year.......but where to plant out lol.
Hi Busy Liz, good to see you, glad you had a good hols.
a little bit different - I grew these Oleander from cuttings so am rather proud of them, the flowers in the pot are pourprier - is that portulacca? Gardening here i the Languedoc is a
real challenge as it can be scorching hot and the area is all rock and scree. The oleanders are planted in a square tubs that can be wheeled into the shade when we are not here.
