I didnt expect much to be in flower in November, but my Yucca has flowered for the first time, Salvia hot lips is staill at it, and the pineapple sage is flowering in the greenhouse.

I have a pineapple sage that has just got around to gorgeous flowering, which is all very well but some day soon the weather will get cold and I'll have to decide how to deal with it. And it's November in Scotland!

  • I'd love to try growing some interesting sages (only have the bronze leaved herby one and one that is a bit rampant and wild) - anyone got any seed to spare?

I've got some Salvia patens (dark blue). Can be grown as an annual, or overwinter the roots like a dahlia for a better show in year 2. PM me your address and I'll pop some in the post.

  • Went to a garden club meeting yesterday and they did a lovely display of autumn colour with cuttings to show how good the garden can still look in November. There was a list to refer to and I have made myself a little wishlist from it. Saying that this little tree is a lovely red colour in my garden and some of the trees are looking good too.

  • David that is a great 'gardeny' look. I love the fact I can see your garden tools too, a garden that is 'lived in'. image
