Seem to be easy for me in well drained soil with a bit of shade and a lot of humus added. They dont like to dry out but dont like to stand in wet. They should do well in your sandy soil down there in dappled shade. If you would like to try some, Verdun, I will be splitting up a couple of clumps later on. The only thing is you have to mark them well. They dont usually emerge until late may or even June. Its always the anticipation in May wondering whether they have survived or not.

These would have been nice but I didn't stake them and they snapped in the wind. Rudbeckia.
This is one of my new ones... Wisley amethyst
I'd better get out there and make some room for it.
Lovely photos; incredible colour on the Rudbeckia
Wisley amethyst would look nice next to that, Verdun.
Thanks Art, I have a few more in the garden, not bad just for a packet of seeds.
my white swan is nowhere near ready to flower. Lots of show from the pink ones though. That may be my star later on.
