Beaus Mum you are far too kind. The garden is a mess just now but can't be helped.

so glad we got the  ponds dug out this summer as with all this rain they are running freely again. Should save us some flooding!

Mark,  I have never seen this rose, repeat/scented? Hardy?!

  • Love that Hanky Panky rose Mark, I am getting quite addicted to roses, got my new ones coming soon too.

The one above is called King Arthur, have found loads of plant labels in this garden, usually nowhere near any plants, luckily most of the roses have well secured and legible ones.

Thank you david s.  Your autumnal yellow looks great against the dark green background.

Lovely colour in the garden LilyPimage.  I'm wondering if you have any leaves left on this morning as it sounds a bit wild out there againimage

Lovely roses. I love roses but mine look a bit sad at this time of year. There are a few flowers left though.

Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
  • I cut back some of my roses hard after the first flush because they were in the way of some renovation of a border they were sitting in. The result has been a very good second flush and very clean foliage, without spraying. Have I discovered a new way of treating roses through the season, and is this better than a single flush followed by some repeat flowers?

I'm rather pleased that the abutilon seeds I planted have finally managed to produce some flowers - only three plants from the whole packet, but a colourful display now.

I'm not sure why the picture which was the right way up in the file has turned itself sideways when uploading.
