At last a wet garden!  It is still very mild and was quite warm in the conservatory taking pics of the glorious colours in there.

Gracious me Verdun you are ahead of me?  Well I have bought loads of new bulbs!  I think probably the theme will be along the lines of "My All the Year Round Garden"!  Good to hear from you.

Good to hear from you aym280,  the first plant is a striling Gaillardia with brown petals.  The cactus type plant is a succulent - Aonium "Schwartzkof".  Oh GWRS miss Saigon!!!  Second time I have been envious today - my eldest daughter phoned this morning and she has just been to see "Ghosts" the Musical in Northern Ireland!

Oh my ayd 280.  I have never had anything like that with my laptop.  Have you protection against viruses etc?  My gaillardia was a bargain plant.  You can buy large plants quite cheaply at the end of season sales and they are big enough to divide next spring if you like them and want more, which is what I will do with this one.

It is dry out now and sunny and supposed to be quite warm in sheltered places.  By the looks of the forecast though nights are going to be colder this week so I will put a few more plants under cover today.

Marion, do you keep your Gaillardia in a pot all year or plant it out in the summer? How much water do you give. . . . let it dry out a bit, then water or what.  I'm asking as my friend/neighbour bought a large one two weeks ago.  It is flowering well but the flowers/stems droop quite quickly. Any advice welcome.

Heavy rain during the night but brightening up now.

Joyce I have had gaillardias live and thrive out in a border for years .  i bought this one with the brown flowers as this year there are some lovely new varieties and just put it in a big pot to bring in to the conservatory as it was covered in buds.  The frost would kill those outside in a week or two.  SGC has Gaillardia "Arizona Sun"  for sale this week which is a good old variety.  Drooping could be lack of water in the pot so your friend's one may do better in the garden planted out.  I normally would do this automatically with hardy perennials  (plant out in the garden) but did want to enjoy my brown flowers.

Thanks Marion. I'll tell her to get it into the ground.
