Marygold my tulips are the result of collaboration from my friend who has a very small garden but loves gardening so he buys new bulbs every year for his containers and after flowering they are carefully watered and fed and then dried off for me to plant in my garden. They flower for years after that as I give them careful husbandry as well after they flower in the borders. This is what you have to do flumpy to be sure of flowers for next year. I use nettle food in my watering can but half strength tomato food would be OK. If I see a lovely tulip in a catalogue I buy enough to fill a big pot to get a good show. So my tulips are never the same two years on the trot.
Lots of sunshine forecast for today and UV4 so sunhat day for gardening. I will planr up another wicker basket for the picnic table I washed yesterday. The grime of winter is going gradually. I have lots of geranium plugs coming soon so theu will need room in the conservatory for a while when I pot them up.
Such squeals of delight from up my garden this morning. The first flower on my new epimedium, the beautiful red tulips which were the disappointment from my friend's red collection last year, the potatoes missed at last year's harvest have sprouted so I covered them up. Everything is aglow in the sunshine and warmth. Lunchtime now as I do feel hungry after all my endeavours.
More broad beans planted out. another dozen perennials planted, one table scrubbed clean in the sunshine, last of the wicker planters planted up, weeding done and close-ups taken of some of my amazing flowers.
The fourth picture is Tulipa "Stresa" one of my favourites as it is so good at advertising its wares. There are nectar guides and "Stresa" nectar guides! The seventh pic is Spring green a tulip with green striped white petals which dies beautifully as in the picture! They are both Kaufmanniana species varieties so flower very early even in a more normal spring than the very early one this year.
I obviously don't feed my tulips enough. They gradually dwindle year on year except some red ones that were in the garden when we bought the house 30 years ago!
Thanks Marion - I'll look out for 'Stresa' this autumn.
There was a little squeal of delight in my garden too, this afternoon, when I discovered my little trillium (bought as an un-named seedling at last Autumn's Harrogate flower show) hasn't vanished, as I'd thought. It's pushing through the fallen leaves in a quiet corner.
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.

You've been busy Marion! I don't think I could do all that in a day. I like the tulips. Do you buy new bulbs every year?
Hi Marion
them flowers on your table are massive, can't believe how much they have grown.
your garden is looking nice and colourful, some of my tulips came back but have not flowered, is that normal ?
As I came out of my back door this am I got a lovely smell of my Hyacinth and finally yes they are flowering

,
Lovely photos, Marion.
I especially like the little starry tulip - fourth (and seventh?) photo - is it a species one?
