A notable difference where you have been clearing Marion. It's excellent.  I like the colouring of the honeysuckle.

Nice pictures , mist finally lifted lunch time so went up to allotment, have looked at tomrrows weather yet image

  • Not a spot of rain overnight and fine sunny day forecast for today but it does seem fresher out, although it is already 16 degrees.  Chionodoxa and puschinia bulbs to plant today and some orange hyacinths called "Gypsy Queen".  Green wheeliebin will be emptied soon so will get that filled up and remove another little mountain from the back of the garage.  I plan to srart cleaning all the glass and shelves in the conservatory at the weekend as most of the tomato plants are out now so should be able to give it a good clean before starting to bring in the tender plants .  I like to get them all in or in a sheltered place outdoors before the end of October.  It is a very big job so I spread it out, but not much of September left now.

    A beautiful day here , Marion. .. . the third in a row.image

I have ordered some multi-headed hyacinths this year, having seen them in flower last year.

Camassias will be another first for me.

White narcissi and tulips are also on the order so, with all the existing bulbs, I'm looking forward to a colourful spring.

  • My friend visited Ridleys Cheer near Chippenham yesterday and was very impressed by their cyclamen sprimageimageimageimageeads and a very thorny wingthorned rose.

    Vicious looking but attractive thorns.

Wish I had so many cyclamen though the ants are doing a good job at increasing the numbers.

  • Another sixty bulbs safely in their pots.  A lull now till it is time to plant the tulips which will give me time to clear more containers.  The sweet peas were looking very scruffy so I emptied their pots, all four of them.  Green wheeliebin is full again and one container but I am whacked now.  Time to chill out, make some supper and watch GW later.
