Good morning , rained again over night , off to allotment shortly

Have you ever taken cuttings from Camillias ? I have been give some and they have small flower buds on them and wondared if I should take them off until they get more established

I think it would be a good idea to take the flowerbuds off GWRS.  Normally if you have to take a cutting with a flowerbud on it you do this so all the plant's energy goes into making good roots over the winter.  It is definitely colder today my anilal friends have been telling me.  They forget about squabbling for food when they are hungry.  within minutes of crumbling the crust of my loaf for them i had three woodpigeons, six sparrows. one robin and a juvenile squirrel all on the patio.  The squirrel decided not to join the crowd but took his share to eat on the back of my chair.

Such a beautiful dry sunny calm Sunday morning.  I am trying not to worry too much about the lack of water as not much evaporation can be going on in such cool October weather.  But I must fill up the bird baths.  I should get in a good day's gardening barring visitors!  Next week sees me lecturing so must not do too much physical work else I will be stuttering.  One of the advantages of being a great age is the wealth of past experience which arms you with pitfalls to avoid!
