Yes, Happy Birthday to your mother, flumpy.  I hope you all have a lovely day.  I certainly enjoyed my friend's birthday yesterday very much.  Today is one of those days when all seems right with my world.  Already  degrees and forecast of 12 or so before the rain arrives in the evening.  And there is an empty green wheeliebin waiting for me to fill it.  My camellia's red buds are swelling and promising great beauty.  I do not have to worry about cooking any meals as the leftovers from having visitors yesterday and the microwave will see to that.  Will have a big bowl of porridge sprinkled with cinnamon to get me through till lunchtime and take my hot drink up the garden in my vacuum flask.  It is so exciting to be able to do a whole safari round the garden once more.

My friend took half the cake home and my supper guest had some andI still have some for the visitors on Sunday.  Mt youngest son is 42 on the 26th so I have another one to bake on Monday.  I cannot believe how warm it is working up the garden. I have finished my coffee so have come in to fill my flask with water as I remember the curator telling me in the Botanic Garden on a very warm day that to make sure of not being dehydrated you should have some water on the hour every hour!  Seems to work.  I saw some white blossom on the path and was astounded to see my plum tree in the potager in full bloom _the one that gives three types of fruit, namely red, yellow and purple plums.  No pollinators out at the moment so looks like there will be few red plums this year.  Luckily the yellpow and purple branches blossom later.  Good job the neighbours cannot hear me up the garden as this morning it was "Oh you are so beautiful" to the snowdrops  time and time again.  Lots of different species flowering now.

    Morning Marion!

I'm just about to go in the garden - the lawn is still too soggy to step on, but I can do some tidying from the paths.  The sun really lifts the spirits... and the first snowdrops are now properly open.

Last year my plum tree flowered before the bumble bees were around, and I took a little paint brush to distribute pollen among the flowers.  I don't think I was as efficient as a bee would have been, but it was better than nothing!

Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.

It clouded over so I took some more pics in case the rain forecast for this evening was coming early but no, the sun is out again so I will be out again as soon as I have had a quick lunch.  It really is glorious gardening weather out there.

Amazingly mild this morning -13 degrees at 7o'clock!  Cloudy but dry so should be pleasant working.  Forecast is 14 degrees after lunch.  Definitely will see some neighbours in their gardens today.  Lots of birds in the treetops watching for my kitchen door to open!  I shall treat them to a little hard cheese grated into their oatmeal this morning.
