Hi Gwrs sounds like you've been lucky with the weather although cold, it's started raining here now so I'm hoping it will get rid of the snow, just got my feet up and watching Endeaver : )
Thanks for the reassurance about the snowdrops. Mine are a few that I grabbed from my childhood home last winter as we'll be selling the house this year (Mum, Dad, older brother and sister moved in in 1958 and I'm trying to get hold of as many things as I can while I can), so I don't quite know what kind they are. Im going to have a good look tomorrow and see if I can spot any coming through. We had some snow last night but just a dusting so I should be able to see. Due to be dry, cloudy and cold tomorrow.
'If you have a garden and a library, you have everything you need.'
Another dull dark wet Monday morning but still fairly mild as 5 degrees already here in Bristol. My sister in New Brunswick in Canada has had another five feet of snow but as she says they are used to such amounts. Five inches seems a lot to us. I think any gardening I do will be in the conservatory today.
I put out the end of my wholemeal loaf on the kitchen step and in from the garden came three wood pigeons, tho magpies, three collar doves, one blackbird and a robin. The wood pigeons stayed till the last crumb had gone and let me photograph them.
Me too Liriodendron. The collar doves had a fight. Two of them thought one was being too greedy and ganged up on him. He flew away but bided his time and came back after they had gone. Luckily the big birds do not favour my front garden so do not spook the little wrens and bluetits out there. The blackbird and robin look on my kitchen step as their feeding station and are not fazed by the big birds.

I know wood pigeons are very common, Marion, but I think their muted colours are beautiful - soft pinky greys predominating.
