Yes, Wonky, I think it was BBC1, (apologies for watching this station!) last week, a GP has prescribed gardening for patients. I have read and seen programmes where gardening is used for mental and physical illnesses, well, Wonky I will tell Hubby you are a trick cyclist, and him with all his "issues", you said I needed plant therapy, like tree hugging!
Several years ago I worked in a rather posh office and had to dress up for it.
I commuted by train to and from work an had to change trains at Utrecht Central, which is the country's largest railway station. Next to the station is a shopping center with a lovely flower shop, which also sells house- and garden plants. They often had the most amazing special offers.
One day on my way home I saw trays with 12 square pots of garden plants on offer. Only €2,50 for a tray.
None of them were labelled, but I recognised primula leaves in some trays, and thought they might be candelabra primulas.
I had just dug my second pond and thought they might be just the thing to plant around the edges.
Bought two trays, and had to take them home on the train during rush hour. Imagine me, a middle-aged woman in formal clothes, with all those plants and a large briefcase full of papers, squeezing my way through the train.
Dragged them all the way home from the station, planted them around the ponds and felt quite pleased with myself.
And then they started to flower and they all turned out to be Primula Rosea!
It was quite a while before I bought unlabelled plants again, even if they were cheap.
I am the same I'm afraid, and I'm stubborn to boot, so I won't be told I can't, or its not practical I just make it happen...this attitude when I don't drive has upon occasion been my undoing! But the plants always made it home in tact, even if I didnt!

Wonky, what did you mean the spend or the panic attack was justifiable? Both I would say under the circumstances!!!
I'd say both too Nanny!
