Haha Dove! I was just remembering Socks when I read that too! A very well dressed and most compliant puss cat! bless him, how forward. Thinking I was.....didn't even know about cross dressing but that pink dress of mine fitted him a treat!
Nanny, my husband wouldn't let me have a cat either. You see how that turned out!
A few tips for getting your own way!
I "let" a white three legged stray move into our shed in the summer......I introduced them slowly in the garden..... As it got cold, I put on the sob stories.... I sat out there most evenings with the cat so his dinner was getting later and later......then fireworks night went in with the killer blow! "Poor little things so frightened!......."
Next thing you know we have a cat that he adored as much as me!
When she passed away after eight lovely years with her.
Once again hubby put his foot down! " we're not getting another cat!"
So all the cute chatter I used to talk to the cat, I talked to him instead! He soon realised this was not going to stop! And he chose our new rescue cat from a website in Norfolk and said " go and collect Harrie and bring her home!"
I suppose it all depends on how annoying your husband finds you......for me it worked a charm! And now of course we have another stray who is happy in the shed, for now!
OOOOOH, my Hubby finds me EXTREMELY annoying! We dont have stray cats come into our garden, well, thats not STRICTLY true, they use the loo, AKA our veg plot then scarper!! We both had a dog when we met, thats why I fell for him (that and his cute a---e) I also had 2 cats, he said his dog hated cats, well, he moved in with me, and his dog, used to sleep on the sofa with my 2 cats, oddly enough, they were all the same colour, we would go into the lounge in the morning, his dog pepper, would growl at the cats and get down off the sofa as if to say, No I wasnt sleeping curled with them all night, she was 18 when we finnaly had to say goodbye, have photographic evidence of her with the cats. At this time I sneaked home another dog, border collie puppy, he said "you can take that thing right back" well, next day, hes in love. Got another border collie puppy a few months later, then a toy (breed, not fake) dog. Lost one suddenly 6 years ago, and the second in January aged 17. Still have little Leo, he is happy for another puppy, that will be when I retire in October, but more chicken and cat nah!!!
Haha Nanny! Sounds like your OH is a softy too but just for a different kind of four legged friend! Glad you get a furry friend tho! A new pup sounds lovely! Roll on retirement!!!!! I know Dove is enjoying it, she's never been busier but this time its doing things she wants to do! Bet your looking forward to it, I believe you work in a hospital? Can't imagine the stress and long hours! You have certainly earned your rest! And your new puppy!
Yup, stress and 12.50 hour night shift plus almost 50 mile travelling each way., Rest, what rest, intending to spend more time in the garden. I am having trouble with pension form etc. left hand doesnt know what the right is doing. Am going to join the Temporary workforce beaurea (AKA The Nurse Bank!!)Only paid into my pension 10 years, so not much. Went to work last night, got into the car thermometer showing 38d, our staff room where we hand over is window free and VERY hot, i seriously thought I was going to pass out, felt really ill I was so hot. We normally have a fan in there, but there was one in every bay for patients and staff. I was so red, several patients and staff thought I had sunburn, said no, I had hardly been in the sun it was WAY too hot, I just drank plenty of water. Went for my break, came back not red, and feeling much better.Well, Hubby got tomorrow off with view to visit Hampton Court, BUT he has agoraphobia, (amongst others) and went into metdown and got ill, as soon as he booked the day off, so I havent booked tickets, and rail tickets. We did go last year, he ended up laying under a tree (ill) I went round on my own, which I did not enjoy. So we shall see. He has been ill all week, so I havent mentioned it.
Wow Nanny! Retirement can't come soon enough! I'm having trouble with the heat as well and my hubby suffers from sickle cell so its really not good for him! I sympathise with you OH argrophopia, I used to suffer mildly, got very over whelmed in large groups, crowds, town centres, never felt that I fitted in etc. Now if embraced my wonkyness, faked the confidence as I realise now that that is what everyone does and let myself be happy and stop worrying. easier said than done though!
Really hope youy get to the flower show! It looks beautiful, I've really been enjoying the coverage.
Sanjy! You are funny! didn't know the bank sold all those goods! Its marvelous that they are diversifying and "branching out" but its not gonna help your "little"problem.....just shove them in the back of the flowerbed and go" what? These old things?......had them years!" Then look hurt that he doesn't remember or take an interest in your passions! then go back to that wonderful bank of yours and pay another cheque in
No, not going to Hampton Court, am really gutted, cleaning lounge carpet instead. Got up a 5.30, put on Hubbies work stuff to wash(economy 7) mentioned to him there wasnt much. He came and found me in the garden where else) asked why I was washing his work stuff when he need it. Said he was on Holiday, claims to have told me he cancelled it "ages ago", well, he only booked it a few weeks ago, I would not have "forgotten", he was not on holiday. Wonky, Agoraphobia, sociaphobia, and xenophobia. Just found a new Dentist, who told me her Hubby had really serious OBC, had CBT which was brilliant. But i have to find a "right" time to bring subject up.
Sangj67, was hoping to see you yesterday, anyway, some time, hopefully, is this plant bank like a food bank? If so you could tell your Hubby the plants were free, because they were neccessary!!! You need to give me the address of the bank. I will have something planted for ages, mine will say "that looks new".
Oh Nanny! Gotta get that OH fixed up! CBT really benefial!
My hubby is a mumbler! And he talks to things as well, such as the computer he is fixing, so I have to tune in and decide if he's talking to me and then decide if I continue to listen! but like you, I would certainly remember if he cancelled his holiday! Think you deserve a trip to Sanjy's bank!
Maybe raise the issue of CBT in a compliment sandwich? Example....." You've done so well at this.....you must find it frustrating," then give an example of someone CBT has helped, and then give more praise?
