That's exactly why I loathe valerian!!!!!! Agh!!! That's all my garden was when I moved in. Nettles, docks and valerian!!!!! Still hate nettles and docks too!
I like euphorbia, ours is the bog standard euphorbia amygdaloides or wood spurge. Though I only found out it 'was' euphorbia courtesy of the good people here. Before that I'd been pulling it up thinking it was a weed. Love it now though and its easy to pull up when it spreads
I do like euphorbia for its looks. Got Martinii which is quite well behaved (so far). I have another one which looks good but has designs on invasion (dunno which variety). It should be collecting sponsors for the amount of ground it's covered
I was foolish enough to plant 'gardeners garters' in the garden. A white variegated and a yellow variegated plant. The white one has been well behaved. The yellow one looked fantastic but had covertly sent out 2 - 3 ft runners underground in all directions before I noticed it had mingled with my Crocosmia Lucifer and neighbouring plants! After many hours digging, ruttling and pulling I think I've got rid, although, at the back of mind I just know there is a piece of root down there...waiting and plotting garden domination!! Got some trapped in a pot now. Lesson learned!!
Never had Valerian....! Looks nice in flower but have not been tempted to plant in the garden as I've heard it can be a menace. Anyway, would hate for it to get mugged by my other resident garden thugs, hairy bittercress, willow herb and creeping buttercup!
Hi Verdun where do you get your sunpatients from? Or do you gather seed from your supply of plants I made a busy Lizzie tower back in the day perhaps old fashioned you might say but that's me (well half right ha ha ) my daughter has a north facing front door and so her hanging baskets are difficult but if you suggest they don't mind shade they might be just what we're cooking for

Wish I was disease resistant.
